  • Good luck with the wedding...

Do people ever feel like they are going through a run of really bad luck, or is that just me!

Anyway, i got the oh so useful reply from ebay (!) - it states "We have investigated your report. At this time, the seller you reported is no longer a registered user. This occurs when a user cancels his or her membership or the membership is suspended. Once a membership is
cancelled or suspended, the user is unable to bid, sell, or leave or receive feedback on the eBay site. Due to privacy concerns, I am not at liberty to discuss specific details of any action taken. I hope you understand this position and that it assures you that your personal
account history will always remain private."

Then goes on to mention the Standard Protect Prog, i think its intention is to bore people out of pursuing their grievance.

I have got the sellers contact details, mobile number which doesnt look legit - 07818045749? I will have to ring him, but i'm rubbish at that. Otherwise looks like i'm stuffed. I will ask the bank to see if they can do anything as well.

    Bloody thief!

How do you start a paypal chargeback

Log into your paypal account and look at the options along the task bar at the top. There should be one for resolution centre, click on that and follow the instructions.

Chargebacks have to be started within 30 days of the transaction.

    Thanks Josh

Whilst trying to find the sellers ID, i now find that he is no longer a registered user.  I dont know exactly what this eans, but i know it doen't sound good!

Hopefully ebay will try and solve it but somehow reading some comments on here, there customer service seems just as dodgy.

Can't believe some people are just out there to   rip others off, partly my fault for paying by cheque, and if i used paypal i may have more of a comeback, but what an a*******

Hi. The guy has in fact stolen money from you. But if you paid by cheque you must have his name and address? If so trading standards or report him to the police :)

  • Ta Graham. I will mention that when i call him - assuming the mobile number he gave to ebay is legit.

i left it too late to start chargebacks and what not, although when i did realise the item was not coming and the seller was blanking me i rang him, got abuse, false promises etc and still nothing , paypal and ebay cannot help if it falls outside the 30 day time limit which passes quickly if you are waiting for responses to emails and stuff >:(

my husband had a problem with an ebay purchase about 3 years ago.He bid on a laptop .I think it was £300.
Turned out it was a small company who were genuinely selling laptops but had completely underestimated their own capabilities. Some people did in fact get their laptops after about 2 months but my husband wasnt one of them.
He'd paid by debit card and luckily the bank pursued the case and he got all his money back but it was about 6 months later.

Some sellers build up a good reputation selling things with an aim to rip off later once their rating is good.

It doesn't matter how good you think a seller is never allow the 30 day limit to be passed if you haven't got your goods.

Back in the summer I was dealing with a lovely seller, he really sounded genuine and very concerned that my parcel hadn't arrived but I still started chargeback just before the 30 days. It was partly his fault as he had posted the item very late, a whole week after I paid by paypal so although he wasn't able to start a claim via Royal Mail the 30 day limit for paypal was approaching fast and I needed to protect my money.

It turned out well in the end, the parcel arrived nearly a month late so I cancelled the chargeback process which left no mark on his account and left neither of us out of pocket.
