I too have just received two invoices , i Haven't used 18866 for ages, I think their system is throwing a wobbly, it's only now I realise how difficult it is to contact them, the customer log in is not working, i managed to negotiate various menus and eventually sent them a message. awaiting reply.

I found the message form via the ' report a fault ' section in ' contact us '

    I just received this reply

    Dear 18866 user,

Due to a technical error in our system we accidentally sent out incorrect invoices.
Please ignore these invoices and we apologize for any inconvenience!

    Best regards,

    The 18866 team

    Re 1899

I have been incorrectly charged by more than double the amount.

On my invoices and itemised calls page it says itemised calls one amount and on the same page next to it in the 'total' it says more than double the amount and the same in my invoice.

I want to contact them but not sure how, I've heard that its near impossible to do and people do not get replied to. Any ideas how to get it sorted?

If I cant get it resolved I will just leave them is this easy to do?

It is true that the customers services link in the invoice email leads to nothing. There is a link saying 'if you want to query your bill' then another link in the list saying 'I think I have been charged incorrectly' Click that expecting to get some kind of contact form ad you just get an explanation of thier charges and connection charges and that is all, no help and no chance of getting any refund by the looks of it.

I have searched the site following various leads that end up knowwhere this is a huge con and really worrying when they have access to your bank account. Would contacting ofcom be of any use with this company? they are deliberately putting every obsticle possible in the way of contacting them to do something as simple as make an enquiry about a bill which should be very clear and strightforward without hassle to make contact with them.
    Thanx

Use the link below to 'report a fault'. They do answer those messages.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I have sent it through there, I had already tried some of those leads in report a fault that did not work due to the way the forms are made but have tried another one and will see what happens, how long do they usually take to reply and what do you think the chances are of getting a refund or credit to my account?
    Thanx

I was overcharged earlier this year - contact them via their site and no reply to this day. Only a few quid so didn't really bother chasing it up. If you are really bother I think their main company is Finarea SA. They are pretty uncontactable really if anything goes wrong. I will be amazed if you manage to contact them at all.

Great news. Is there a facility to update your email address online?

Beware though, you will NOT be getting 5p connection and 0p per minute calls via the 08081703703 number - as you are a Virgin Media subscriber and have to use that instead of the 18185 prefix, the prices are different (e.g. calls to UK 01/02/02 numbers are 5p connection and 1p per minute).
Hi Heinz, I ,like you ,use 18185,with aol. no problems for years, always invoiced, changed to DD awhile ago, but still have old 1899 A/c set up on other system, no problems either, still owe them £1.15 for calls 9 months old.As my daughter has gone with virgin, I notice a different prefix has to be used and is chargable, unlike 18185.Where can I find the call charges using other prefix, especially spain, I pay 1ppm with18185. landline to landline. She is undecided whether to pay £3pcm with Vm for eveningfree, or use 18185,s other prefix. bit long winded, sorry.she only signed vm yesterday.

Thanks Heinz, much appreciated.Where does it state that Vm users using 0808prefix pay 1ppm instead of 0ppm18185?If uk calls are dearer via 0808, are spanish?

The 3 links above show the costs via the 0808 numbers. If you compare them with the 3 links below, you'll see what I mean (no, calls to Spanish landlines are not dearer - 1p/minute either way - and that's one of the strange things about their pricing structure).

The best example of that is that one of them (18185, IIRC), used to offer cheaper calls to UK mobiles via the 0808 number than via the prefix at weekends despite the obvious fact that calls via the 0808 numbers should, of course, be more expensive because the firm is having to cover the cost of the freephone call the customer is making to gain access.
