    Hi R4pture and all ...

    A rarely aired point ....

When I first joined this site I received a huge amount of advice .. help .. and patience with my questions ... and during my time with MSE I have saved a huge amount of money ...

MSE has now become a community ... and many see it as that ... working for the same goal ... I personally feel it is unfair for some to happily feed off the advice given by the group as a whole ... but then openly adopt an every man for himself policy and a grab it while it's hot agenda ...

As you have said R4pture ... there are many members relying on this benefit ... and I think we should show some personal morality in this ... and work as team players for the good of the community ...

Goodness ... that may be my most serious post yet ... and now for something completely different .... party0046.gif

    LittleBill ....

    Well said Little Bill :T

Abusing your stores coupon policy can and does cause problems for others. The minority in their greed can cause problems for the majority and some of us are really glad of those savings we can make.

I've heard several stories of coupon abuse on my store recently and have had my mocs checked a few time because sa's are scared of getting into trouble. 1 story I was told was that someone had been "adjusting" coupons for others stores to make them look like they were NSS.

I know 1 young lad was very upset because he'd got into bother for taking more coupons than he should have and a checkout supervisor told me that new starters were being targetted.

Please think before you do abuse the local coupon policy. I can only use 5 mocs for items not bought and [if lucky!] mocs against items bought on top of those. Any more abuse could result in no mocs accepted

.... and then EVERYONE loses out for the greed of the few.

What a farce in my local Tesco for the top up weekend shopping, came to £15.00, handed over muy vouchers, the cashier called a till supervisior. (Same bloke as we had a run in with before), he maoned, huffed and puffed, accusing us of photocoping vouchers, yet he accepted some internet ones, then he refused to accept the Marie Claire one as we didnt buy the magazine. he was really rude, really felt like I was a shop lifter.

Me I was ready for a good airing of the voucher policy and realised Id left my copy of Tesco email at home. So walked away!!!!
Found the policy, rang the store, and guess what I am right..... I knoew I was but that wasnt the point..... have put in an officvial compliant via the telephone, the customer service desk are going to refund the vouchers next time I go in, the mgr is going to speak to the supervisior, and get back to me with a view of a goodwill gesture!
There are ways of dealing with the customers, a polite Im sorry this doesnt go through or something on that line ok, but to be grunted at, accussed of photocoping and made extremely uncomfortable, its past a joke.
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

Yet in another thread this week you crow about your success in getting a free X-Box out of Tesco last year under their R + R policy. And then grumble that they stopped the R + R policy. Maybe you could remind us why that was stopped?

(And descending to name calling is childish and uncalled for.)

Well I read your post this time and was a bit surprised you are now apparently stalking my previous posts.

Many people on MSE know I used to R&R sometimes, it's no secret. So did many of us couponers. I got a free xbox because Tesco overcharged me, and so did several other people (some got more than one).

The R&R policy was removed because Tesco couldn't get their price integrity sorted sufficiently to make it impossible for customers to be able to get large items for free. Tesco didn't like giving away free stuff and it was happening more often and with larger items than I think they originally planned for (when they advertised the policy on TV they had Prunella Scales checking the price of her bread, lol!).

Oh, and finally I do agree with you that Tesco are the ones who are arguably committing fraud when passing off coupons to manufacturers as if they have accepted them for the item stated. It's a point that's been made in the past fairly often, and I have mentioned it myself to people sometimes, that's why I didn't reply this time. No-one's disagreeing with you on that point.

It's not just Tesco though, Asda and even Waitrose do the same - it's a competitive market out there and accepting coupons is a way of getting customers without losing money. But ONLY if the coupons used are redeemable of course (apart from loss-leaders like spend & save coupons which pay for themselves by encouraging people to spend more and to come to Tesco rather than Morrisons/Sainsburys etc).

I am delighted that Tesco take coupons for items I haven't bought but they do stock. I am a late comer to this information and have only been using coupons for around one month.

My shopping usually comes to around £30 per week but I do not like to draw attention to the coupons I am using so try to only use around £5 worth alongside my £3 off a £30 shop at Sainsburys coupon.

I would also like to say that amongst my friends and work colleagues I am the only person who knew that Tesco has this open coupon policy. It might appear be reading this forum that everyone is using coupons but I personally think it is possibly a small minority of the thousands who shop everyday at these large supermarkets.

Maybe that was late last month when they did stop taking the June coupon,

This month's coupon (Reading in Bed) is scanning fine.

The paper version has no expiry date! (So maybe they will again put the block on it at some time).

I work in Tesco and we have some new notices gone up on the till saying specifically we do NOT accept somerfield coupons or book tokens E.G daily mail. Hope this helps!

For the first time today I went to my local Tesco to do a weekly shop. I had various coupons that I had printed off from links on this thread. I was very nervous at first as I had also managed to pick up three lovely pieces of Tesco Finest Gammon which had been reduced down to £6 odd, and then being cheeky (again following tips on here) I asked for it to be further reduced as it was 3.40pm. They reduced it again to around £3 a piece!!!!! So I got around £45 pounds worth of gammon for £9!!!! This along with some other yellow sticker bargains. Anyways, back to the coupons. I took my shop to the till. It all went through and totalled £59. I then handed over my coupons. I had about 10 . The cashier just happily put them through until an eagle eyed supervisor came over and said I will have to get the manager, you have an awful lot of coupons there, and the snorted as she walked off. I waited (feeling sick) and waited (feeling very sick). Snotty supervisor came back and said to the cashier "he said we can accept them as long as she ( I suppose she meant me) hasnt given you more than one of each". She then proceeded to scrutinize each coupon like I had been up a week forging each one! Anyway all went through and she said I would have to complete my name and address for the Marie Claire one which I said ok too and asked for a pen. Got £12.50 off my shop, plus Marie Claire and a nice smoothie for the kids to try for free.

Thank you to all on here who post these coupon links. You are just fab. With my weekly shop going through the roof and myself and my husband working all hours but floundering around and still ending up with 0 and the end of the month or worse in the red, this small but significant saving to our weekly shop will help out greatly. I will now look forward to food shopping rather than dreading the total at the till!!!

    Thanks!!

Thanks for the info, good to hear that some stores are aware of the correct coupon policy. :j
