Tesco now turn these coupons down via the till / barcode reader.

Some one who stated they worked for Tesco posted on here that Tesco no longer accept the Daily Mail book token coupons as they are not getting payment from the companies for them.

I tried to use 1 on the self scan a while ago, and it immediately said "this coupon can not be used". (big text on the monitor)

Only time its ever put that message up. Normally just shouts for the assistant.
  • kalamity's post above regarding the coupon net software set my paranoia off, so I too did some googling and found some nasty reports here and there - then did a spybot scan and yes it highlighted and removed a threat found with the coupon software.

I then went on to download the software again and scan the .exe using a multi-software online scan that reported this:

File: couponprinter.exe Status: OK(Note: file has been scanned before. Therefore, this file's scan results will not be stored in the database)
    MD5: 426da41cbc7892ce00e113948ccb9567 Packers detected: -

    Scanner results
Scan taken on 12 Jul 2008 08:54:34 (GMT) A-Squared Found nothing
    AntiVir Found nothing
    ArcaVir Found nothing
    Avast Found nothing

    Panda Antivirus Found nothing
    Sophos Antivirus Found nothing

So read into that what you will?!?! - All those programs scan the .exe and find nothing, yet once installed, Spybot reports a threat? - False positive?

Anyway - boring geek stuff over, back to the bargains!.......

Please please please can everyone check before posting coupons that are expired! I am very grateful to the people who post here and help me to keep the list current and up to date and I understand how addictive it can be to find coupons! but please check they actually are a) in Date and b) are currently available.
I seem to have noticed recently some people who I feel have the wrong sort of attitude towards coupons. Remember using coupons could be eneded at any time due to misuse et It is a privallage not a right!.. Many of us rely on using coupons as a way of dealing with little or no money please do not spoil it for us!!!!
Never NEVER NEVER use an out of date coupon - just because they take it it doesnt mean you've got one up on them. This will later be returned to the store and class as a loss to the store- too many losses will result in a closer examination of the coupon policy ( which has recently happened at the tesco store in Carlton Nottingham)
NEVE use a coupon from another store unless its a conditiional spend and the store states they accept it (like the morrisions news odf the world ones thats tescos accept) (Always check first please)
Always stick to one of each coupon unless buying the actual product in multiples and the make sure the number you use corresponds to the number of that item you buy.
Please Please Please do not split your shopping into lots if you must just go back another day!

REMEMBER THAT IF USING A COUPON LIKE THE DIALY MAIL ONE. THE STORE HAS TO HAVE SOLD THE SAME AMMOUNT OF THAT BOOK AS THE AMMOUNT OF COUPONS IT IS TRYING TO REDEEM. EG IF THEY GET A HUNDRED COUPONS THEN THEY NEED TO HAVE SOLD ONE HUNDRED OR MORE BOOK TO BE ABLE TO REDEEM THOSE COUPONS in other words using a coupon foir a comonly bought item is alot safer that using a coupon for an item that is rarely bought.

As I Previously said some of us here need to use coupons as we have very little income and debts that we are trying to pay off so we can live a normal life.

If people abuse this life line then they will make life even harder for all of us. struggling from day to day. remember there is a recession coming up which will make life even harder for all of use. coupons need to be used in accordance with store policy otherwise they will simply stop it.

I hope this hasnt come over a s a rude post as it is not my intention. I just want people to treat this with a little respect instead of seeing it as a scam or a way to get one up on the stores.

Ive never had any problems with couponnet software over the past 2 years.

My spyware software blocks and removes it after about 5 minutes of installing it but when I want to print new coupons I just re install.

    Simple as really.

Same here, I have had Couponnet software on my pc for over 2 years and never had a problem from it. :D

Good post R4pture, doesn't come over as rude at all, no need to apologise.

I have also been a bit fed up with the clearly out-of-date coupons posted (presumably someone has just googled for coupons but it's not as simple as that or we would have already found them, wouldn't we?!). Doesn't take much to check the expiry before posting.

The only thing I would say differently than you is not to use the Daily Mail book tokens at all in Tesco. They don't get the money back from NBT even if you buy the book, because Tesco already heavily discount the book (the participating booksellers don't).

Tesco have been blocking the Book Tokens the last couple of months but not very quickly. But that's no reason to try to bung them through anyway, do people really think the cash office in their store won't notice???:rotfl: :rotfl:
