My Tescos says internet ones are branded coupons, I also have a cleverly worded email fromTescos saying there are no limit to the amount of Money of Coupons that can be used in a single transaction. :D

I'm known as the "coupon lady with the email" all the supervisors know me, (quite bad after only using them for a month) she spotted me and gave it to me to keep with my email as it had just been sent out for clarification.

I'm getting a bit of a rep, lol, was looking at our poor burnt pier the other day and one of the nice SA's walked past saying ah that's my coupon lady :D

They mean it nicely, as they now use coupons too!

New Daily Mail printable £4 book coupon expires 31st August:

Thanks for this Quentin. Am fairly new to all this coupon business. Could I use this in Tesco for money off food or would I have to buy the book? Thanks.

Tesco policy is NOT to accept other Supermarkets' coupons - nor the Daily Mail book token posted above by our old friend Quentin - but they will scan, annoyingly!

Please don't be tempted to randomly try other stores coupons in Tesco, RedBalloon, the fact they scan does not mean Tesco can get the money back. The long term repercussions at your store could mean they'll stop allowing coupons, it has happened before. Because they scan, some idiots put Book tokens/Somerfield/Sainburys magazine coupons, etc., thru the self scan and then the store often reacts (eventually, when they realise the loss) by clamping down on all coupons.

On the plus side, Tesco do accept other Supermarkets' Spend & Save vouchers though, as stated in the policy wording posted above. These are only the coupons that do not state a product or a range at all. For example, '£3 off a £30 spend at Sainsburys' is OK (but '£3 off a £30 spend on electricals'/clothing/specific ranges at Sainsburys, is not).

Tesco still don't get the money back on Spend & Saves but they accept them specifically to get customers instore who would otherwise be in another Supermarket. Basically it's worth the 10% discount to get new customers from their rivals. Tesco have had the policy for years BTW.

Thanks for the clarification Coupon-mad. You have just answered a question I have asked Quentin.

    Hi All,

Did my shopping in Tescos earlier using all my coupons, saved a bit and then realised forgot something so popped into my local Asda.

When I tried to use the marie claire coupon, I was initially refused as it was apparently a copy which it wasn't and I pointed this out to the SA. I then tried to use some coupon net coupons the one with SAFE coupon written on them to be told that they only accept proper manufacturers coupons now and only for 10% of the bill.

I said that the coupon net ones were proper manufacturer coupons and still i was told no they weren't. "Nothing from the internet are proper coupons".

I then used my non internet ones, and they got stroppy again because I exceed the coupon limit (as only using small value ones) and I had to point out it wasn't 10% of the bill yet.

Won't be shopping there again, although thinking of emailing the manufacturers who's coupons I tried to use telling them that asda are refusing to accept them. Especially annoying when I was trying to buy a marie clare!!!!

Sorry for my rant, was sooooo upset at the time.

    Rosebud

Hi rosebud982. I had a similar experience in Asda the other day with a supervisor telling me the same thing - coupons for 10% of bill only. Think your suggestion to e-mail the manufacturers is a good idea and may cause Asda to review their policy. Good luck.

I have 2 questions. As a newbie I hope you'll forgive these, if they've already been answered elsewhere:

    1. Where do you find the "£5 off a £50 spend at Waitrose/Sainsbury etc" type voucher in the 1st place ? All I seem to find is a code that's sent to me occasionally by Waitrose, which I can only use if I place an order online (eg you type in the code when you get to the online checkout) but it's not a voucher as such.

    2. If I did manage to find an actual voucher for "£5 off a £50 spend at Waitrose/Sainsbury etc" and took it into Tesco, do I then have to spend £50 before I could get the £5 off, or will they just take £5 off the bill, regardless of how little I spend (as long as I spend more than £5 obviously) ?

    Thanks in advance

    Hi

re Q1. Sometimes these are mail shots that are sent out to cusomers on their database, ie details from a store card, if there is a new shop opening then they do a mail drop, dropping them off at houses within a x mile radius, or the best and easiest to find in newspapers. Apparently theres money off coupons in tomorrows News of the World. Think its Waitrose, there is a rumour that Tesco may do another spend and save voucher. Keep an eye on for tv advertising, as recently The Sun did a £5.00 off £50 at Morrisons (which meant Tesco here we come), and that was well advertised.

Q2. Afriad it has to be a whole spend, so say £5.00 off when you spend £50.00, then you have to spens the £50, that even applies if you use Asda spend and save in Tesco.

    Happy savings x

Been using this at Tesco and Asda for the past month, only problem is they don't scan so SA has to type in the bar code.

Tesco, Dudley has recently changed their coupon policy. The change is due to someone abusing the policy by using other store coupons and coupons for items they don't stock. So now we are all being punished. Their new policy is, if the internet coupon has their name on it then you have to buy the product, even though it also says other stores on the coupon too (you know, when they put what stores stock the product). I recently had an internet coupon that had Tesco, Asda, Sainsbury's, Morrison's on it and the supervisor said "if it has Tesco's name on it you have to buy it". Just thought some of you that have been talking about using coupons you know you shouldn't in the self-checkout are starting to have an affect on all of us. Please think twice about what you are doing, ask yourself if it is really worth risking them changing the policy all together? Also for those of us living on the poor excuse of a pension, the liberal coupon policy is a God-send so please don't screw things up for us!

Thanks for listening and enjoy the coupon!

Went to my local Mr T's today. Young lad would only take Marie Clare and Kids one from newspaper. Said that sa's had got into a lot of trouble for acccepting printed coupons. I went to cs and asked what had changed from last week and was told that only coupons with safe coupon with (tick logo) displayed were accepted.

I managed to save £3.70 off an £18 shop (was still gutted as I had a fist full of printed coupons):p
