I have asked if there was any chance of even a partial refund but there is none.My aunty has said that she can't afford to give me anything.I've thought about going and seeing if i can find somewhere cheap to stay for a week.It makes more sense to pay an extra couple of hundred for a weeks lodging than to write off £800.Thank you to everyone that replied

If you are looking for somewhere cheap then Priceline could be a good idea. If you have a look at www.betterbidding.com, you will get an idea of bidding strategies and hotels in your required areas xGone ... or have I?0 -

usually something can be worked out, even if he has to wait until after the day of the actual flight, and the the seat has managed to be re-booked.
even if it means just getting 25%-50% back, its still better than nothing!
Then you need to read the OP's first post!I can't transfer the ticket into anybody elses name if i could sell it on ebay and if i cancel i lose the lot.Gone ... or have I?0 -
Where in Canada are you supposed to be going? If you post the dates and city, maybe someone on here could find you a deal on a hotel. dmg24's suggestion of using Priceline is also one I would go with. This space has been intentionally left blank0
