;) I have asked if there was any chance of even a partial refund but there is none.My aunty has said that she can't afford to give me anything.I've thought about going and seeing if i can find somewhere cheap to stay for a week.It makes more sense to pay an extra couple of hundred for a weeks lodging than to write off £800.Thank you to everyone that replied

If you are looking for somewhere cheap then Priceline could be a good idea. If you have a look at www.betterbidding.com, you will get an idea of bidding strategies and hotels in your required areas x

sorry, i can't see wher he says its 'non-refundable'

usually something can be worked out, even if he has to wait until after the day of the actual flight, and the the seat has managed to be re-booked.

even if it means just getting 25%-50% back, its still better than nothing!

Then you need to read the OP's first post!

Where in Canada are you supposed to be going? If you post the dates and city, maybe someone on here could find you a deal on a hotel. dmg24's suggestion of using Priceline is also one I would go with.

You clearly don't travel a lot do you, or possibly even have a grasp of the English language - what else does 'if I cancel I lose the lot' mean?!!
