run my passat tdi (110) on this for over 500 litres now - runs well, not smelly fuel. Only downside is it is a little messy, even with a barrel pump, to fill up. May well try a car fuel pump next if I can find a cheap one..

  • I still can't see why people buy Biodiesel at the same (or higher) price than normal forecourt road diesel, unless the garage selling it is right around the corner from where they live or they have a heavy wallet. I certainly wouldn't pay £10 annual membership to be part of some 'elite' club, when there are clearly similar products are selling at 80p a litre on Ebay!.

Maybe the Government / Greenies should be paying ME £10 for actually travelling 30 miles in order to fill up with the stuff, and doing my bit to help this global warming thingy that they keep harping on about (but of which they seem to be doing nothing practical to address).

Its easy to be ethical.....at £10 a time!.

I've noticed another seller on Ebay from Southport selling Biodiesel in quantities as little as 20ltrs, also at 80p a ltr. Could this be the start of an Ebay Biodiesel price war?

I may give it a go. One of the eBay sellers is close to me so I can try 200 litres without too much risk.
Sometimes you have to pay to be ethical - it's a bit like giving to charity.
    Can I help?

I still fail to see why a £10 membership fee is introduced, when the price is little different from the forecourt price of regular derv - its not like you are getting access to an exclusive money saving club or cheaper fuel! and they seem to be the only ones running such a fee!.

Where ever I look, there seems to be absolutely ZERO incentive to anybody to switch to greener fuels, and ZERO effort put in to making it available by either the Government or the Environmentalists, but it doesn't stop others from making a profit from it.

If you were entirely serious about being Ethical, you could always buy in 1000ltr LBC's at 72p a ltr from the producers, form a biodiesel cooperative and sell to others in your area and spread the availability!.

There is a garage in City Centre/Aston area of Birmingham that sells legal bio-diesel for about 60-something pence a litre. It is near the Matalan roundabout.

would you have their contact No.?
  • I have used Express Biofuels for BioDiesel for some time now and have had excellent service, being a touch sceptical at first I had some tested by Customs they informed me that it was very good quality, I run a small company fleet on their fuel and have probably used over 4000 litres, I use it 100% with no need to mix, they deliver as well, I found them on Ebay and have recomended them to all my friends at 80p per litre I calculate that this should save me enough for a good Holiday !

The problem with companies like Express is that although they use a national medium like Ebay they are in fact niche area suppliers. I would have thought that one of these forward thinking companies would have enough faith in their product to begin rolling out franchising!, after all there is little competition.

As it stands to even consider using this supplier, I would need to make a round trip of over 500 miles, and that negates any cost saving and uses up a day of my time, so I guess until they roll out and market their product to a wider geographical area, I guess i'm going to have to just take your word for it on how good it is!.

I was in that area on business the other day, I didn't find this supplier, at least not at 60p a litre, so that probably explains the silence.

I'm always wary of people who come onto MSE and then in their first post sing the praises of a company that few / if any people have ever come across.

& then when the company that they recommend is contactable by a mobile number, the alarm bells (for me) are sounded clearly and loudly.

  • haven't read through the whole thread but there's an article or motoring question in either last weeks or this weeks sunday times that says using bio-diesel can invalidate your car warranty...something to do with the car manual specifying the standard of diesel that should be used
