So lenny3 - any update as to the reliability of the supplier, and the quality of the fuel?. I notice that on the veggiediesel forums they are getting quite a sceptical review.
  • My husband bought 400 litres from a guy in Liverpool off Ebay a couple of months ago. Unfortunately had to have it delivered which bumped the cost up a bit, but still much cheaper than the pumps. Put it in my S Reg Citroen Xsara Turbo Diesel. Went ok for a few weeks, then had problems with the starting, so did consider a 50/50 mix, however after a bit of exploratory work it turned out that 2 out of 4 of the glow plugs had packed in. Now these have been renewed it is working fine. Takes a little while to get used to the odour (my car has now been christened the 'Chip Shop Express'!!), and we are awaiting the colder weather to see how she starts then, but so far, so good.

BTW, anyone got a diesel bowser (road worthy with brakes) they want to sell?

    :)

Well the company on Ebay don't seem to want to answer their emails, so thats immediately put me off giving them my business, coupled with the fact that they hide their Ebay feedback - not a good first impression think i'll leave well alone!.

Thanks for the tip Lesley, however Liverpool is too far away from me to justify the meagre saving. I guess i'll just have to keep using fossil fuel and contributing to global warming then. Considering that some would have us believe that the earth is in it's death throes and with its dwindling resources these viable, alternative fuels don't half seem like rocking horse sh1te to find!.

A warning. I tried vegetable oil in my car and it ran really badly for a few minutes before conking out completely! I've got a feeling this is only meant for diesel cars, not petrol ones.

P.S. just reposting some previous advice that I had put on these Bio fuel threads.

Using home made bio fuel will invalidate the warranty on your car - user beware
  • Have used 50l of the new Biodiesel made by "express Biodfuels" (tel:07977 456835) in my 2.0dti Zafira so far & it is running great.

Actually the original post was to give everybody a laugh - I didn't really do that and wouldn't want to drive round smelling lik a chip shop anyway :) I would try running with Extra Virgin Olive oil but it just reminds me of that mystifyingly attractive lady from "On the Buses".
    Can I help?

ummm, but the prices that those people are charging are actaully dearer than real diesel fuel - as in guarenteed stuff, bought from a petrol station.
