    hi there Hathor

Yep..perpetual means it will keep producing as you pick rather than just once:T

I feed my strawberries every week once they start to flower...just a little bit of tomato food.. into the bottom at the roots -not just tipped over everywhere like i do with other things as it can burn the leaves :p
When you pot it up -keep hold of the little pot as when it starts to throw off runners you can root them and get more plants for next year :j as i think they reckon that strawberry plants produce less fruit after 3 or 4 years...so your baby ones will grow -give you more babies so that eventually you can get rid of the 1st plant that you have now

Mary -you aren't to late for your spinach..im setting some every week for the next few months... i do the same with carrots as i love em..

Well i fetched some chard and water cress in to go with lunch today and have just had a salad..a whole collander full of weired n wondefull salad leaves from the tubs too :T and still lots more for tomorrow and loads more growing:D

mr warren that greenhouse is a belter -well done :T

Ok so if I've done this right the picture below is of one of our allotments - it was taken last year but give you an idea of what can be achieved!

And this is the other allotment again taken last year.

Buy your bananas in bunches of 5 on Sunday. Then arrange them in order of ripeness and write a day of the week on each banana in felt pen, Monday on the ripest, Friday on the greenest to save time making those decisions on a hectic weekday morning
  • KAAT your garden will look lovely when it's finished, that is one big pond!

Ruth your veg plot looks fab.

  • Duplicate post!!
  • Hi everyone, we have made a veg garden from scratch this year and it is our first time growing veggies, we have a new greenhouse (courtesy of OH's parents who inherited some money!) and so have grown everything from seed. We are attempting to grow Potatoes, tomatoes, parsnips, carrots, mooli, cucumbers, peas, broad beans, stringless beans, runner beans, broccoli, swiss chard, cabbage, beetroot, chillies, peppers and asparagus peas along with some salad leaves. We have been really enjoying all the hard work and preparation and hoping for success!! Here are some before and after pics, we still have some stuff to plant so it is still a work in progress:

Bed with Stringless beans in middle, mooli seed in fairy rings (so I don't weed them out!) and parsnip, radish and carrot where strings are

Runner beans will grow up the arch and peas and beans are growing up the canes at each side

    Nice veg garden shopa.

Be careful with your wigwams, the diameter of the circle is a bit small, if you haven't put the canes very deep into the soil, they may be a bit vulnerable to high winds.

How about sticking a couple of trailing berries down each low fence, perfik :)
    Tayberries are good.
