Cleaning Stainless Steel????

I have a stainless steel bread bin. Now this may be a bit obsessive butttt how do you clean this so there are no smears of the cloth??
At the moment I am wiping it with a cloth soaked in washing up liquid and warm water.
I hate looking at this!
Thanks x0 -
It might sound kinky but i was told that you use baby oil to get the smears off and leave a shiny finish

Baby oil does work well, and it also helps if you dry it as soon as you've wiped it - and I do mean straight away! I use kitchen towel or any dry cloth.Mortgage Free as of 03/07/2017 :beer:0

My mother had a stainless steel sink, and I once found this cleaning method.
Use oven cleaning spray to give it back its new shine.
Gloves are a must. I'd do it outdoors, away from pets or wildlife, put newspapers down, spray caustic oven cleaner on it, let it sit for perhaps 15 minutes, or follow the timing directions on the can. Don't breathe the fumes. Then take it to the sink and wash it (still wearing your gloves) with a bit of washing up liquid. Polish it with a soft cloth.
My adult brothers were amazed at the difference in the 20 year old sink when they came to visit.
It isn't for everyday cleaning, but should take you back to a nearer to new stainless steel item.0 -
I use bicarbonate of soda to clean my stainless steel taps, sink and kettle - use a damp cloth dipped in a little bit, rinse off and dry with a micro fibre cloth or a chamois so that there are no water marks. I have also heard about maintaining a shine by rubbing in some baby oil, but I have never tried that myself.0

Baby oil with a microfibre cloth, then buff it with a dry microfibre cloth.0

I can think of more fun things to do with Baby Oil than rub it onto Stainless Steel.;)Debt Free Date:10/09/2007 :j :money:0

You can get an e-cloth, I got mine from John Lewis but I have seen them in lots of places. You get one cloth to clean and one to polish and they are really good, I have a stainless steel dualit toaster and it really does the trick0

Anyone have any tips for cleaning stainless steal?
I bought the proper stainless cleaner from the shops, but it doesn't do a great job and the odour is very over welming.
