I have upgraded to 8.0 without the toolbar and i am very happy with it, much easier to use. I changed my browser to Firefox a while ago as it runs a lot faster then E7 and not so hard on your computer. I have no browser issues with AVG

i really want to download 8.0 but having read the above link i am unsure. Has anyone who has downloaded noticed their speed slower? Thanks
no problems here. try the usual stuff; chkdsk, defrag, ccleaner and file cleanup from system tools.
you might just have some old fragments of avg hanging around that need cleaning up.Keep trying.........................what else is there to do?

I downloaded at weekend and got same message about being unprotected. After hours of searching for another anti virus I clicked on the logo on the start line (dont know what else to call it) and it said to install anti virus. did so and all is well. Since then no more pop-ups.
Hope this helps.0 -
I've dropped AVG because of the problems and am now using Avast anti virus - far better0

My version 7.5 prompted me to install v8.0 and it seems to be working OK...0

Did mine a few days ago, as promted by AVG. Everything was easy to do and is working great. Finds a lot more things as well so would recommend doing it.Thanks for any help and advice given

I am a trained PC technician and alot of people I've spoken to have had problems with AVG, other people have no problems at all. Most likely its due to the actually specifications of the system, AVG does use a large amount of memory and will slow down lower spec systems.
I prefer Avira myself since it uses alot less memory and CPU power and gives good protection and of course free, I would recommend it to anyone who has any problems with running AVG, you can find it on download.com0
