New version (8.0) of free AVG Anti-virus software (merged)

    I had problems with my AVG 8 upgrade from 7.5 - see http://freeforum.avg.com/list.php?12 where you can see all the issues from lots of people being discussed, inluding it being slow.

    AVG 6 to 7 was painless - going to 8 has been painfull for me. I've lost a file that is from 2005 where it suddenly found a macro virus then proceeed to delete the file rather than put it in the virus vault. Scan times are 3 times as long but I suppose it is doing anti-spyware as well which 7.5 didn't do. I had to disable the 'link checker' to prevent long delays in web displays on searches as well as the corresponding CPU usage slowing the machine down. The only safe way I have of doing scans at the moment is to disable the auto healing of infected files.

    Also its not clear whether Anti-Spyware is staying or being removed from the free AVG8.

    I have installed version 8 with no problems at all and took the toolbar too. So I'm very happy with it,:rotfl: I had a few problems going to 7.5 from the one before it but with 8 so far so good:confused:
    just wait in a few days it will all go wrong;)

    I think that many users drastically slowed surfing problems may be due to a poor internet connection.

    I found v8.0 to slow my computer dramatically and even had to uninstall it and go back to v7.5. Been much better since...

    Since upgrading, my net surfing and page loading has slowed right down... starting to get on my nerves now... hope they sort it out
