New version (8.0) of free AVG Anti-virus software (merged)

After the end of this month, version 7.5 of Grisoft's free AVG software will no longer be upgraded, it's being replaced by version 8.0. You can install version 8, again for free, from here:

    You beat me to it - I was about to post this. I am currently downloading it! They do seem awfully desperate to sell you the whole security suite though, had to go through several pages to get to this!

    Wrong, AVG 7.5 will continue to be supported until the end of the year according to Grisoft.

    According to the message I received this morning from Grisoft, they will not be doing any UPGRADES to the free v7.5 after 31 May - we're talking about upgrades to the free version here, not support

    I have read that people are having trouble with AVG 8.0 perhaps you might want to read this before installing it.

    Might stick with 7.5 until they have sorted out some of the download/installation problems. Gosh almost makes them sound like Microsoft
