I think £1.80 is extremely resonable.

I am so jealous of you all! :o I pay 1.54 for 6 free-range from sainsbury's in south London, but am definitely going to call up the farmers' market on Sunday now!! Dreaming of the day I have my own hens... :D

I would gladly pay £1 per half dozen for Eggs from Happy Chickens, sadly as I don't know anyone who keeps Chickens I have to make do with Supermarket Free Range eggs. Have been thinking of trying out Blackheath Farmers Market which apparently is held every Sunday in the Station Car Park - making a note on Calendar now. If there was someone close by selling eggs I could swap for some of my Homegrown Rhubarb which has come up in abundance this year, OH says he's getting fed up of Rhubarb Crumble.:rotfl:

  • If you are having trouble buying free range eggs the spar sells them at £1 for half a dozxen. I buy them either there or the local butchers or the farm shops all the same price. Though they have gone up in the last couple of months. I was paying 90p.

Someone in my road sells them from her farm gate at £1.00 per half dozen for large eggs or £2.00 for a tray of small ones.

I have to go searching for egg sale signs now!

For some reason I always had it in my head that buying from local farms would be more expensive. But I'd happily pay £2 for a dozen!

And I'm not even overly keen on eggs... maybe it's all the supermarket ones I use. My kids love them though.

    Thanks for all the replies.

I have been selling them for years, but recently the price of feed just keeps rising. It used to go up and down throughout the year according to harvest and stocks etc, but now it just goes up. 40% since this time last year.
(Inflation is of course at only 2.5%, so there is no need to worry).

I had no shortage of customers.... Hope they don't mind the price hike from £1.40 to £1.80. I will blame it on Mr Brown, or the price of fuel, or the stupid Bio fuel policy.
