Selling free range eggs? How much do you charge?

Just wondered what the going rate is?

I have been selling for £1.40 a doz for the past 6 months, but layers pellets have just gone up to £6.95 a bag, so I will have to put eggs up to £1.80. Seems a lot, but cheaper than Tesco.

I don't have chickens (yet ;)) but just to let you know I would happily pay £1.80 per doz.

I pay £1 for half dozen free range here in Cheshire. My mum in Scotland has more demand than she can supply for her hens eggs at £1.50 a dozen and is putting her prices up to £1.80 because of the price of feed.

I would happily pay that if they were available locally. I haven't found anywhere to get free range eggs 'at the farm door' yet.

I get my free range eggs from a local farm, £1.70 for a dozen hens eggs and £1.30 for half dozen duck eggs.

I unfortunately had to give my chickens to a friend two weeks ago but I was selling the eggs for a pound a half dozen. I know some people on here think that is expensive but I never had any trouble selling them.. in fact I had a waiting list.

There is no comparison in an egg from a shop and one from a chicken that is leading a great life.

By the way I had to buy 4 eggs in the co-op at the weekend for £1.09!

I value eggs from happy chickens and if anyone around the Ashby/Coalville area will sell me some everyweek I will be more than happy to pay the pound a half dozen I used to charge.. feel free to pm me!

Don't think of the price, how do you put a price on the happy lifes of chickens allowed to sunbathe and enjoy a good life.

Just my two penneth worth anyway.

I ask for donations towards the cost of chicken feed and the empty boxes returning. People are generally happier with this than a set charge especially as the eggs vary in size from bantams to double yolkers.

I generally get £1 per 1/2 dozen, the occasional jar of home made jam or marmalade and I swap for fresh veg with a lady with a very productive garden.

If anyone in the Hatfield/St Albans/Harpenden area has any eggs for sale I would happily pay a pound for half a dozen. If anyone has any please pm me.

I plan on having my own when I move, but until then I dont think my flat is very chicken friendly.

    hello

There doesn't happen to be anyone near Windsor does there who wants to sell on a few surplus eggs does there? :D

I'd happily buy them but don't know anyone who keeps chickens and don't have enough room to keep my own!
