You can get £100 'ASBO' packs now from ASBODATA so to make an informed move.

    Daily Mail
Househunters will be able to find out how desirable their neighbourhood is with new 'ASBO' packs that show how much anti-social behaviour is present in their area.

There was a discussion about the rising tide of lawlessness on C4 news the other day, I forget who the participants were but there was the usual round of 'community leaders' and 'youth policy experts' talking about poor young people 'acting out their grief' by knifing people when suddenly one lady said something like

"We don't really know why people misbehave but we do know that for whatever reason, the police have decided to surrender the streets to the gangs and..."

She was immediately shut down by Kirstie Walke who blurted "thats a separate policy issue" and changed the subject. A great shame as this is the most sensible thing Ive heard on a public forum about tackling asbo behaviour. There just arent any police about in Britain.

I have travelled, a lot, and Ive never been to any country thats as under policed as the UK. In Japan (one of the safest countries in the world) there is a police box on every block corner that is manned 24 hours. In Europe, Holland, Germany, wherever, even in quiet suburban neighbourhoods there are police on foot and bike patrol. You see them, theyre visible, and the scum or wannabe scum see them too.

I find it frankly incredible that in a country that pays telephone number salaries to City traders and houses the financial capital of the world our government cant find the money to put some plod in places where they KNOW there are crimes being committed ever single day against people and their property.

Over the last ten years Labours social engineering has ensured that its pretty much impossible for people to legally or safely enforce normal standards of behaviour on their streets, in their schools, or even when confronting intruders on their property.
And in turn they have given us a police force that has become so inept and useless they cant even stop kids smashing up their neighbours property. Incredible.

Any joy Tony? I am both disturbed & disgusted about you situation. It's so unfair.

There was something I thought of which involves door knocking etc and it's starting a residents association and being the first to host it, include beer & wine (only one per person). It may be that lots of people in your street are concerned about the anti social behaviour but feel alone. It really might be worth a try. If enough of the people there find out that their offspring are !!!!ing everyone off enough for them to move...........You could meet the parents face to face of the entire gang and they might not know about this. Even if you don't, you get to meet everyone else and suss out how they might feel.

the parents dont give two fcuks and actually encourage their offspring behaviour, for example in place i lived a particular scum family was sending their children who were under 10 to go and knock on the doors of pensioners on the estate and then rob them in full knowlegde the law couldn't prosecute the kids. valuables such as jewellery were hawked about the local pubs by the parents.

Our PCSO rolled her eyes "the dad's as bad" when i told her who was involved in some recent shenanigans.

Tonight we've had a teen puking up on the grass outside the house. Two carrying party size cans of lager and a gang of lads running around with small cans looking for a fight.

What was really shocking was two 6-7 years walking about one with a home made bow and arrow and the other with two huge kitchen knives. Then we watched as they struggled over them and the one kid took them off with him.

Tony I dont know much about this, but if your sellers didnt declare that there was a problem of anti social behaviour towards the house, couldnt you seek compensation??? it could maybe get you back the few extra grand you lose. I know my girlfriend was asked in person and writing about any problems with neighbours or anti social behaviour. See the lawyer that dealt with your house purchase.

I would second this: as a seller you are supposed to declare anything like this. Is it possible that the seller you purchased from was a little economical with such details? You may be entitled to be compensated for this.
  • I'm in a similar position but mine is with noise from next door. Blaring music, doors banging, dogs barking. I just hate them and the house. Landlord wont do anything. If we sell I'd say we would have to take out a 2 unsecured loans! a 25 grand one and another for a smaller amount. The only consolation would be our jobs are comfortable and secure meaning we could afford the repayments. Plus we would be happy to rent for a few years and look into building that quiet detached house I dream of!
