    Hi Everyone,

Just looking for a bit of advice really, our dog has gone and knocked over the OH's clay chimaneer and it now has a crack in the back that is about 0.5cm wide and it appears to go all the way through. Is there anyway that we can mend this (or i can before he gets home...!!!!) or is it a write off?

Would appreciate any advice / experiece.

    Thanks

Our clay chimenea is a write off this year due to gale force winds earlier on but the other year it got knocked over in the garage and a piece was chipped off the top. OH fixed it together with some sort of fire proof stuff............don't know what it was and he's not here to ask at the minute...........it worked though. Maybe local hardware store might recomment something.

Something like this is probably what you're looking for. ;)
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.

    Hi Guys,

Looking for one of these for the Summer months. We have open fire in the house and free supply of logs so thought it would make a nice atmosphere on the patio!

Cast Iron from reviews is by far the best choice in terms of value and I've read that have it open 360 degrees is great for all who surround it in terms of heat.

Therefore, does anyone have any comment on the below? Reviews seem positive......

Hi guys, bough this on Monday and can confirm it's absolutely brilliant and a great price! Took about 45mins to put together and started with a small fire and now she's roaring!

Recommend this product for a reasonable chimenea that 'services' all who surround it!

    I bought a small chimenea from debenhams. It's a Landmann's:

    http://www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10001_10001_322012220899MISC_-1?breadcrumb=Home~Home%20&%20furniture~Barbecue%20&%20chimeneas

it's really nice looking one (some look truely awful and not well built!) BUT it doesn't give out enough heat because of its size. Therefore, don't expect the one at Argos to be hot enough for a lot of people to sit around.

    Frugal Firelighters
Cotton wool rubbed in vaseline. Stays alight for about 3-4 minutes.
Place on scrunched up newspaper with twiggy small bits of wood on top.
For ultimate frugality light with a firesteel.
(Other Half got firesteel and a bag of homemade firelighters for Christmas - we had fun burning the firelighters on top of the snow!)

As I posted above, it is great! There was a group of us around it during the week adn it was top draw. As you can see it is open all around so heat not just coming out of one hole! Also, looks larger than yours from Debenhams and remarkable cheaper! Check the reviews, 4 and a bit stars out of 5 from over 50 reviewers isn't bad for a cheap chimnea!

Cheers for the advice. I have just used maybe 8 scrunched up bits of newspaper followed by twigs picked from the woods and then larger logs with absolutely no probs!
