Thanks all for that info. We're due to go to Focus for some paint at the end of the week so I'll have a look then. I'm only in a small market town and the nearest Focus is 20 miles away...........Homebase is even further and thats just the sort I wanted -in fact it's almost identical to our old one except ours had a little 'hat' that sat on top of the chimney part once it got going.

We didn't use it much last year, weather wasn't suitable but when we've had good spells we'll sit in the garden all evening, candles on the go, solar lights and the chimenea going...........lovely it was. There's a grill that normall comes with them for doing things like chicken or fish (we always wrapped them in tin foil) and jacket potatoes we shoved in the ashes wrapped in tinfoil. Tasted lovely.
We used old pieces of wood that were kicking around...........think OH got a kick out of hacking it to pieces..........lol
Paid over £100 for ours......they were a lot more expensive then.

Just a thought but some of those places that sell stoves sell chimneas too. My local one sells large ones that you can cook from. Also I remember Wilkos selling them last year too

As for Woolies I ordered online and picked up from store it did take 3-4 weeks though to come, I do find them slow at times

I wondered if Tescos online sells them

Thanks poppy................might have a look at that.

Checked Tescos website and they do sell chimeneas......£40, out of stock but will e mail when available and delivery can be arranged so thats not too bad. I'll still check out Focus at the weekend though to see what they have there.

I`ve got a cast iron one and only managed a few times last year. Lit it Sat night and it was great. Only draw back is the smoke that comes out of it. I use the bbq lighter cubes to get it going. Is that what`s causing the smoke and the smell? I use logs or the special chiminea logs when I can get them.

We used to light ours with a couple of firelighters to get it going........did smoke a bit but once it got going it was fine.........we burnt all sorts of old wood on ours.Didn't know you could get special chimenea logs

I bought some from argos, I think it was 10kg and it cost 7.99. I tried to light it without the firelighters and it didn`t work. Resorted to the firelighters again. I`ll have to see if I can buy different lighters that don`t smell!

Cast Iron Chiminea and Grill , looks great
    can anyone advise
question is that the instructions of use it says to remove the cap when in use, but i thought that it been a 'rain cowl with built in spark arrestor for additional safety' would be left on when in use, is this a misprint ?
also can you tell me how to burn wood or coal to get it started, is it placed on log grate? is it placed on the grate? or in bowel? or is the bowel just for the ash?
also it has a 'The flue has as an adjustable air flow control to regulate the burn rate of the fire' what does what do by opening it or having it closed?
    thankyou

The more open the flue is the more air you get in round the fire and the fiercer it will burn, just like an open fire in your house.
