You can have my old one, but it's now sat in it's own puddle in the garden! (wasn't house trained)

It's easy to give in to that negative voice that chants "cant do it" BUT we lift each other up.
We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.

    Go Smashed! Girl Power!

Right, asked OH about what his Mom said (he was actually quite funny-he said 'better you than me!' and made a joke about Counsellor Val) but he didnt have to sit here watching her break her heart over her poor son...and she gave me a letter I wrote them years and years ago how they were a family to me (which they ARE STILL) which made me cry. It was written when my own parents split up and they basically gave me a home...

So, I asked him about her saying he still loved me and he said 'well, I do, I think we always will love each other, but not the same way' which is true, and how I feel. So, I guess, it was just how she understood it. Not what he actually meant or said (but then, she is just protecting her son-I would do the same for my child)

So, I still feel sad, but better if you know what I mean. Bottom line is, I want both of us to be happy with our choices and it would break my heart to think he was sad as well.

In a weird way, I still 'love' my ex, but not in 'that' way - at all. I'd never want to get back with him, but I'd hate to see him in pain or in trouble and think he didn't think he could ask for me for advice at least - we were together for 13 years, after all. I think we'll always be friends, of course we have Charlie which keeps us in touch, so I don't know what will happen in years to come or when Charlie grows wings and goes off to doggy heaven :(

I look back and sometimes feel a complete cow for leaving him, it did completely break his heart and we had some wonderful times over the years, but he is a heavy drinker and very irresponsible with money and I'd had enough of walking on egg shells every night trying not to upset his drunken mind for fear of what he might do :( , the relationship completely degenerated. Thing is, 5 years on, he's learned got on with his life and not being with me means he can watch as much football and cricket on the TV as he likes and listen to all his crappy music!!!

I never knew what he said to his parents, he didn't say anything until I left him. I've never heard anything from his Mum, but his Dad has (after we split!!!!!) left me 2 paintings in his will!! How weird is that?? Also, about 6 months ago, he had computer problems and my ex gave his Dad my phone number. It was a bit awkward to suddenly get a call after not speaking to him for over 4 years, but he was fine.

Things will work themselves out Bunny and I think the two of you will end up having a good relationship for both the kids and also the 2 of you as friends.

    Thanks Keren.
I guess it just threw me that's all.
I was dreading the 'telling the children' more and that was a walk in the park compared to MIL sitting on settee sobbing her heart out...

Anyway, I suppose there will be many more situations for me to deal with in the next few months...

I was just chatting with my step-sister in Canada online and she was begging me to come over this summer-I said I don't think it will be in my budget and she said she'd speak to my Dad and her Mom (maybe they'll take pity on me and pay for some planes tickets over?!) That would be amazing, the kids loved it over there last summer and their house is massive so plenty of room for us to crash. Fingers crossed...(god, not very grown up of me though is it?)

Keren, thanks once again for all your kind words and wisdom, you always make me feel better. ((hugs))

i can ring my MIL and talk to her for hours, and when i 1st left her darling son she hated me that much she went to court to speak against me when her darling boy snatched my kids (thats another story) its amazing how time can help iron things out, after being with a violent bumhole of a man i am happy with a gentle not very erm affectionate provider, we all need different things out of life and why shouldnt we have what we need. xx
