ginvzt - wow, 32J! DO you find that the Bravissimo clothing sizes are big enough? I'm "only" a 32G and I find sometimes a 14 Super Curvy is almost tight around the bust (and I can't go up to a 16 as then it's baggy in the shoulders...)

I think they should have another 2 sizings above "super curvy".

The shirts are ok. I have one top, which is a bit more tight (pink linen top). So I have to wear it without the bra (wvw then it gives enough support) and I put another seam where it crosses at the seams, so it doesn't gap so much (although OH prefers it the 'original' way' ;) ). The jackets are fine for me as well. Will see how the dress goes if i manage to loose some weight.

Which I had smaller boobs - life would be so much easier!

keelykat, unless your boobs are really small, you may be surprised.

I would recommend that anybody who has never had a fitting by a real specialist (in my experience, department stores don't normally count!) and who is currently wearing a B or C cup, should pop along to Bravissimo anyway and see what they say.

Bravissimo starts at a D cup, but because the majority of people on their first fitting there get put in a bigger cup and smaller back size, they have trouble selling D and DD garments because people who thought they were a D end up in an E or F, and people who think they're a B or C cup don't shop at Bravissimo in the first place, even though if they did, they might find they're a D ;)

Consequently Bravissimo usually have a massive variety of D and DD cup garments in the sale, after all the other sizes have sold out.

Definitely worth a try. If Bravissimo fits you as a D or DD you can get some real bargains, especially on their website.

Hey im a department store fitter! :p I do know what you mean though. I work nearish to blue water and our store is the only store in this area that can bra fit, so its us or rubbish marks and spensers!

Sadly bravissimo is out for me, and ive never had the guts to go in and have a look around because im only small! Although, i could try a 30D, but i like moulded cups cos otherwise i look like a boy.

There is a rigby and peller in bluewater now!

    Many thanks.

Bluewater eh? Not too far from me, never been there but thought about it a few times, although going over the bridge (timewise) puts me off. Maybe one day soon. Always go to Thurrock as it's closer (I'm Chelmsford way).
At the moment I'm seriously thinking about the measuring adventure. Although to be honest I can't imagine a bra ever feeling comfortable, specially in this warm weather! So if a fitting works I'll be over the moon. (will make my OH and kiddies happy too as I'll stop moaning about being uncomfortable!).

Im a trained bra fitter at debenhams. Im 21, but was 18 when i first started.

My age is a bit of a restriction, but at the end of the day im there to get someone in a bra that fits. You wont believe what most bra fitters have seen! nothing phases me anymore, ive nearly had milk from a ladys breast squirted at me, i fitted a woman who obviously hadnt washed for a good few years, ive fitted people i could hardly get my arms around, ive fitted people who never shave under their arms (that is sooooo common!)

Anyway, first of all, DONT MEASURE YOUR CUP! it will always always always be wrong.

All i do when someone comes in for a fitting is to remove their top but leave there bra on, it can be padded or whatever, doesnt matter, then i ask them what size they are wearing and then i ask them if its comfortable, what areas are causing them concern ect. I then measure around the band (mainly use that as a guide and to make it look official!) then i say you measure here as a 32/34 ect then i go out and find a bra that i think fits. I ask them to put it on while i step outside (or stay in depending on how comfortable i judge the person to be or if they say they dont mind) then i check the fit of the bra. I look for bulges, if the band is ok, making sure the wire isnt sitting on the breast and adjusting the shoulder straps. Then if thats ok and im happy i ask if they want to try any more or anything specific, if not i ofter them to look on the shop floor to find bras they like, then i will check the fit of each one to make sure the customer goes away with bras that fit.

That is the basic method. There really is nothing to be worried about! A bra should be comfy, the only time i would you know you have it on is if you have been fitted from a 38 to a 32 because thats obviously a significant change in size.

You should never buy a bra without trying it on, and id also reccomend that when trying on you get someone to check the fit because you shouldnt be just "one size" either. My bra wadrobe consists of 34 a, 34 b, 34 c, 32 B, 32 c, 32 d. Its just how the different makes and styles fit. Im predominatly a 32c and thats the size i first try and then make adjustments accordingly.

if anyone wants any more info or advice give me a PM. Im addicted to lingerie and i could literally talk for ever on the subject so i seriously dont mind a pm on the subject. Can probably tell from the length of this post!!

Yay another young bra fitter! I'm only 19 but have only been doing it 3 months, trust me, I was probably as daunted as the woman being fitted when I did my first one! M&S do good underwear as long as you get stuff that fits, the amount of women that come in for a fitting saying that bras are uncomfy, and they have boob spilling out from everywhere! Bite the bullet, get it done. Trust me, although I'm young I think I know enough about boobs big and small - I'm a 38F meself! I own pretty much all the "young" styles we stock, so if anyone wants to know about a certain style I'll of already road tested it :D

I had myself measured in M&S I was wearing a 40D, girl there put me in a 42C but when I got home the bra did not seem write so I went to Debenhams they measured me as 38E and gave me the Gorgeous T-Shirt Bra to try and I must say it fits like a glove. I agree that it does depend on the manufacturer, I have bought bra's from BHS in same size and they are not such a good fit.

I recommend Debenhams but if I am near a Brasimo I will try them.

the only time I've been embarrassed at a bra fitting was when the fitter recognised me, and I didn't recognise her! She'd been on a student placement where I work - bra fitting was a part-time job!

Well, I've tried many many bras these last 2 days (now got to pack them up and send back!). I would agree I'm probably a 36 but the fitting is killing me. whatever the cup size. They seem to tight! I mean, really tight, I had to take one off pretty much immediately as I couldn't breath and was getting dizzy! And that was a D cup. The difference in materials is amazing, but none of them are soft, Sloggy soft. If Sloggy did a D cup I'd go for that, unfortunately they stop at a C.
A bra fitting is my only hope now. Will see if we can go somewhere at the weekend. I'm fed up with just settling for something half-comfy that doesn't look right.
Wish me luck girls! (and any guys hanging around!)!

Well, bitten the bullet and going to Cambridge tomorrow for a fitting. It's decided and OH might not let me back out of it!
Any thing I need to know (tips?)? Anyone been to the Cambridge one? Is there a good time to go, we would go during the week but with travelling time it's not feasible and I won't go on my own - or should I say I won't bother going on my own!
Many thanks for all the responses, it's been very helpful.
