A new bra - should it be immediately comfortable?

ooh - they've always made me take everything off - bra included! i feel taken advantage of now
was horribly embarassed the first time (and another time when the lady said i must be right handed as one boob was bigger wasn't so fun either!). intimas should measure you though - but perhaps keep the bra on........! :happyhear0 -
Oh heck! I wouldn't strip for them! I draw the line there...t-shirt off at a push but not the bra!
Really? an A cup? I'll try that!Thank you to everyone who posts comps! :A

I hate bra shopping. I find that my sizes change between different manufacturers, shop assistance are not always that helpful. I found the advice from http://www.herroom.com/measure-bra-cup-and-band-size,903,30.html to be very useful. Basically try before you buy, and try different cup and band sizes - see which feels best and does the job. It also recommends different styles for different bra problems.0

we have a local shop that I go to - where they just take a look at you and say 'you look like a size x ... try these on' and just hand you half a dozen different bras to try. The lady there recommends you lean forward and 'pour' into them - (which in my case with a 34b is difficult!) however - the last time I went she gave me a 32b to try and it was so comfy - so now I try that size first whichever make...... They are absolutely brilliant so I would recommend a local lingerie shop if there's one near you - M&S bras are uncomfortable now I've got a comfy one!Bern :j0

Hi ya, you shouldnt need to take your bra off to be measured up- everywhere i read it says keep your best fitting bra ON when measuring (obviously not a padded bra though!).
I have personally had very good experiences with m+s and dont feel embarassed at all. these days they mainly go by sight, and usually keep trying different sizes etc until we get the correct fit.
Its annoying not having big boobs in a way-because everyone keeps suggesting bravissimo, but you need to be D+ to get bras there so for the smaller chested, its out of the question. But if you have smaller boobs, m+s seems to be good then.
also m+s do have a wide range of bras, so i dont understand how their bras are so bad? try a different style/material etc. I stick to cotton ones, as they let your skin breathe and are easy to wash/dry.

Oh just want to add-a lot of ladies make the mistake of buying a bra too big in the band, and too small in the cup! so you may find you're a totally different size when getting measured!Mommy to Elliot (5) and Lewis (born xmas eve 11!)0

I would definately recommend getting measured. NOT in m&s though, they are not very good in my opinion. They measuerd me as a 38F. I never felt comfortable or supported. was measured elsewhere and turns out i'm actually a 34H. What a revelation! much better fit and i'm comfortable now.
Wonder if M&S told me I was n F cup as they dont actually sell anything bigger then a G?? HmmmmmmmmmBaby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
i got myself measured at debenhams ... the lady there did a very good job ... its is better to get measured ... oh the comfort that a right sized bra provides is absolutely fab ...0

I had a fitting at Debenham's. The lady did it by eye. She was obviously experienced in her job and knew what she was talking about. As a result I changed the bra size I'd been wearing for years - down a chest size up a cup size. At first this size felt too tight but I soon got used to it and that is what now feels comfortable, and the appearance is so much better.
I find Debenham's own brand bras are very reasonably priced and fit me better than M&S.0 -
