The Body Shop sell cotton gloves and cotton 'foot covers' (not socks - a bit thicker to stop the cream/oil from spreading onto the sheets) for this sort of thing.
Thanks ... I'll look out for these.Wins since 2009 = £17,600MANY THANKS TO ALL OPS0 -
Hello lovely people.
New years resolution (apart from to save money!) is to have nice feet - mine are a disgrace! I'd love to have them in good condition for summer without breaking the bank. Any good ideas to remove hard skin, moisturise?0 -
Hi
almond oil is supposed to be good for hard skin.
I've always found a good paddle in the sea is good - maybe not at this time of year tho'.
There are probably people who have more OS theories than I do. But this is one of the best things around - it does do quite a few applications. But isn't the cheapest.

Even helped my dad who has SERIOUS hard skin (and is a diabetic so has to be careful about his feet)"You can't get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me." - C.S. Lewis0 -
a friend recommended to me once: for lovely soft feet, buy a pair of cotton socks. they *must* be 100% cotton for this. what you do is before you go to bed, wash your feet or have a bath or something, sot hat the skin on your feet is all clean and soft(ish). then moisturise so the skin is really wet and slick with the moisturising lotion. then pull the cotton socks over your feet.. and go to bed with them on. in the morning peel off and your feet will be lovely and soft. It may require a few nights of doing this to get through the hard parts, but for most of the foot, it will work. the reason they must be 100% cotton is to allow your feet to breathe, if there is polyester in the wool mix then your feet will sweat, and with the damp conditions already in there, that would be a very bad thing!
You might, if they are very bad, consider treating yourself to a pedicure. not very OS but it will do a lot of the work for you, so that after that its a case of maintenance.
if they are *extremely* bad, as in ill-health bad, then i would say a trip to the docs and hopefully a referral to a chiropodist/podiatrist.0 -
I use a pumise (sp) stone, you can get them from Boots/Superdrug, anywhere like that, and after a nice soak in the bath i give the bottoms of my feet a quick rub, and i never (hopefully) have any probs with any hard skin or anything.0

I also use pumice stone in the way described by catowen. Used regularly, it prevents the build up of dead, hard skin.
Another use of pumice stone is to care for your nails - of both fingers and toes. With one of the edges, rub the nail surface ever so gently so that it has a bit of "tooth", then apply almond or olive oil, which the nails so prepared will absorb. Done regularly, this will make your nails look neat, shiny and well moisturised. It will cut down on horrid little cuticles too.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0 -

I have always found that having slathering on a good layer of petroleum jelly followed by the cotton-socks-on-overnight, works a treat;)
Just beware that if you have to get up to go to the loo in the night, that you might slide a little inside the socks:D so be careful..............
I do this on a regular basis, and once you have got the soft feet you would like it's worth doing before you actually need it, IYKWIM?:cool:0 -
Flexitol heel balm (or a Boots equivalent) is good in extreme cases
I've found a good soak and a slough with a foot file/pumice stone (not only effective but strangely satisfying) and then followed by a thick moisturiser and socks overnight is a good way for not so bad cases on the ball of the foot. The early bird gets the worm but the second mouse gets the cheese :cool:0 -
Mix lemon juice and sugar into a paste and apply to feet. Cover with plastic bag and then socks and leave for a few hours (or overnight if you can).
Then rinse off paste in shower and pat feet dry.
All the hard skin should have disappeared."This site is addictive!"
Wooligan 2 squares for smoky - 3 squares for HTA

I usually have a shower rather than a bath but put the plug in first so that I'm paddling in the soapy water then rub away at my heels with either a pumice as previously mentioned or one of those foot "file" things. Then, after drying smother in moisturiser and put socks on.0
