    What do you all think?

    What do I think?

Well I certainly would not call Barclays.

I would ask these bunch of chancers to prove what the debt is, how it was incurred and that it was incurred by you. Until they can satisfy you that the debt is infact yours and payable, and I would do nothing further.

Well, i was going to call Barclays and just ask them if i had any outstanding payments that i owe them. If they say know, then i'll ask why the hell i'm being chased for this money...

    I am, I know!!!!

Seriously though if these muppets are convinced you owe them, then they will be able to provide documetary proof. If not they won't. QED.

So it transpires that apparently i owu ~£80 from a Barclays overdraft, which could have been "a number of years ago".

    Hi

Is this an account that you still hold? Does it show up on your credit record?

If not and you have not piad anything towards this debt for 6 years (5 in Scotland) it is likely to be statute barred. Even if they have a CCj against you, after 6 years thay need court permission to pursue the debt.

Assuming of course that it is your old debt and not one belonging to someone else with the same or a similiar name.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing

I still have the account. I doesnt show up because there is no record of it - i 99% certain that it's not my debt. I havent used my barclays account in about 6 years, so even if it is my debt (which it isnt) it must be before that!

There is a new thing to add into the mix tho - my parents have just been through my post, and it seems that they have written too...
Addressed to my name, but with the middle name Gor!?
So, they're going to send them back, and say that there is no Firstname Gor Surname at this address, and send the two things back. Because it's true, there isnt, and even if they got my name right, i no longer live there.
  • Remember if the debt is over six years old, and if there has been no correspondence in this period, then the debt is statute barred. This means that it is no longer legally collectable and therefore no point in taking you to court. The only exception is as RAS says if there is a CCJ then an application to the court would have to be made to enforce it.

Can't see that happening for £80.

As I said before, they are just chancers!

My girlfriend has been getting letter from these people for about 6 months, she hasn't
a clue what the debt is for (£280) so we found this thread and decided to ignore them like so many others. We have recieved abot 5 it total, none tell us who the debt is with just Kapital????

Today she's came hope to find a note that's been dropped through the door from
a debt collector, now she's starting to panic, still no clue's to what the debt is for from
letters we've received from Kapital or the note through the door.

    What should she do now?
