They pay, but then they start hassling you calling you a liar, demanding a refund or a neg etc?

I leave feedback when THEY leave feedback.

It's feedback of the transaction - it's not over 'till they say so.

So what...everyone just waits around for the other person to leave feedback?

Surely if they pay then they have done their part of the deal?

If they then try rip you off, surely you'd just show paypal the evidence?

Oh if only that were true. I had a recent Paypal chargeback where the buyer claimed non receipt but had left me feedback which said 'Good seller, prompt delivery and great item'. I pointed this out to Paypal but unless you have trackable proof of delivery forget it. The same buyer had 3 feedbacks where sellers had added a further comment to positive feedback left saying the guy was a scammer who prompted for feedback then claimed non receipt.

You may just be able to tell that after 4 years on eBay and 20,000 sales Im just a little bit jaded by eBay buyers!

The debate over when to leave feedback is a regular one on here and you will be lucky to find a regular eBay seller who is silly enough to leave feedback before a buyer does.

And for the thousandth time....a buyers responsibility does not end when they have paid though eBay's revised feedback system will view it this way in the future. On this basis feedback for a buyer will only relate to the speed of their payment, not that they pestered me daily for a delivery update, they didnt read the description then blamed me, they used the item and found it wasnt for them then sent it back damaged, they tried to swap the phone they bought from me with an older faulty model, they didnt bother to pick up the item from the Post Office as they were on holiday then wanted me to resend at my cost etc etc etc. The buyers responsibility extends right through to the end of the transaction....when they have received and are happy with their item.

Well, I joined 1st june 2003 and have sold just over that amount as I used to sell alot, now it is just my own belongings. I have 5 negs all from the same buyer which I simply ignored as it's nothing in the big picture. I guess I must be one of the silly sellers you talk of.

If the seller and buyer wait around for each other to post feedback, surely nobody would ever get any?

Maybe the reason ebay have scrapped sellers leaving feedback is because if a buyer is unhappy then they leave reedback accordingly, they will then get retalitory feedback!

Yes ok your bound to get the odd scam artist, that is how I got my 5 negs, but surely those who are unhappy with a substandard item or service should not be worried about getting retalitory feedback?

And for the record, I would NEVER call an buyer, I'd email. I'd feel intimidated and like my privacy was violated to be honest, infact I'd probably tell the seller where to go politely!

Which is why the buyer should leave feedback first as they are the ones that know the transaction is completed satisfactorily i.e they have paid for and received their goods in good time and are happy with them. The seller cannot know this until the buyer confirms it.

All these people objecting to phone calls!?! Why have a telephone if you don't want calls, and why then submit that number to ebay for sellers to see and use? Still no response back from the buyer, and i've still not left return feedback.

I once left a POSITIVE for a seller, who retailated with a neg. I was NOT amused, so i opened a dispute just to annoy him. He didn't answer it and i got my £470 back!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

Was well worth the neg saying i leave malicious feedback without checking facts.... :rotfl:

2 wrongs dont make a right though do they?

Ever thought the neg was left for the wrong person by mistake? I hope you sent the item back.

I suspect some people who sign up to eBay maybe dont realise their phone number is given to the other party in an auction? I have 2 friends alone who I KNOW just fill in all sorts and NEVER fully read what they are getting into.

As for why have a phone if you dont want calls......................... . You don't have to understand other people's points of views, but is it really so hard to accept that's just the way some people feel? There's a few now that have posted here that share that view, it's not unreasonable to think there will be a lot more all over the eBay community.

When I submitted my number to ebay in 2003 there was no choice, unless you filled in rubbish of course. I also believe that it is handy to pull off for a buyer who is trying to arrange local collection etc. I did not put it on ebay for a seller to call me up in my home and ask me why I left certain feedback, surely that can be done through the messages facility.

I am hoping that any feedback you leave is good as the buyer paid on time, has left a good remark and a neuteral for their own reasons.

If a seller called me about something unwelcome and trivial I'd probably leave them very curt feedback!
