You must understand that when you return a phone to O2 your sending it to a distrubution warehouse, i'm not defending O2 taking so long to refund your card but as with all big companies things like getting refunds do take time.

May I ask what number your calling as O2 do have a 01349 number that you can call for information?

Yeah you're right matrix999, I admit I can be a little impatient at times ;)

I've been using 08705 678 678 (prepay customer services). I've tried some of the alternative numbers on saynoto0870 but they ones I've tried are for contract services and they were unable to put me through to the prepay department. Could you give me that 01349 number and I'll give it a try - no harm in trying eh :)

    Cheers

The number is 01349 887193, it puts you to the front of the queue.

The other number is a free phone number 0800 005 005 who normally tranfer you through to pre pay customer service

    Hi there,

I have been following this thread and am keen to buy one of these phones.

But as someone who has never owned a mobile phone before, I only want the basic Pay as You Go package. Not any of these deals with a £10 per month min. top-up.

Is is possible to get the Nokia 6030 for £29.99 plus the payg (£10) without these student deals?

    Grateful of any advice,

    Many thanks,

    Rex

ah thankyou its a beauty but im afraid they cant get the hang of a samsung a20 so i was going to go the easy-to-use nokia route. bless them theyre only in their 40s but i swear theyre 186 inside lol. still pondering on the phone route, im also thinking of getting one of the cc's with 0% interest which pays the difference if an item you buy goes down in price within a certain timeframe - essentially paying january sale prices for my gifts after reclaiming the difference (martin has an excellent section on it on this site) can anyone recommend doing this as im a bit tight for money atm owing to saving and my LEA messing up my student loan. Think theyre worth a go? im only thinking of spending about £250 this xmas maximum - what are other people's budgets like? im only buying for my parents, brother, boyfriend, 2 sets of grandparents and the boyfs parents. LOL only she says.

you can still buy the phone anyway, the £10 minimum top-up is just to continue getting 300 free texts every month, it will still keep working as a normal PAYg sim card with the bonus that when you do top up again you get the bonus of free texts for a month ;)

This is the O2 online contract number, they normally refer you to the 0870 number, try 01274 388 261 instead.

Also dial 4444(top up line) press opt 1.Then keep pressing # key. After about ten presses of # key.It will invite you to speak to Cs by pressing 1.

You could buy the phone for £29.99. You dont have to buy an O2 top up even though the sim card comes with it. Get the phone unlocked using the Unlock you Nokia for Free Thread on here. 'Browntoa' was extremely helpful to me in sorting mine out. It is a doddle to do and completely free. You could then get a Virgin Simcard. These dont need regular top ups, calls to Landlines cost a flat 15p and you can even set up a direct debit to stop having to ut top ups at all. Virgin Sims are usually £10 but there is a thread on here saying they are free or you can get them for 99p on Ebay.

I really like this phone. Got it for my Mum. She didnt need a camera facility, just a good all round phone. The screen is great and the phone looks more expensive than it is.

    Hope this helps

    no still on. go here

    http://shop.o2.co.uk/student

select nokia 6030 from the drop down box on the right 'choose your new phone'. the o2 x1b is also £29.99 now.

they don't check if you are a student and indeed there is nothing other than the link to suggest that it is students only. and the £10 min top up is to get you free allowances. if you don't top up £10 no free allowance till you next top-up.
