Who leaves feedback first?

As a seller I leave feedback after the buyer has left it for me. I've heard too many horror stories about difficult buyers causing problems to do it any other way.
As a buyer I leave feedback when I receive the item. This makes sense to me as it means I have received the item and everything is OK.
I've never had any complaints about this, and don't really know what the problem is.
Feedback is voluntary so if people don't want to leave feedback for me then so be it. After I reached 100 feedback it's didn't matter much anymore, and now I'm over 200 I never even notice if people have left me feedback unless I specifically go looking for it.0 -
I have been selling over a year now and I leave feedback after the buyer has left me feedback. Mainly this is due to the reason of the buyer leaving me neg feedback. I always say no feedback is better than a neg feedback, but if the buyer does not leave me feedback after 25 to 30 days after payment I will leave feedback for the buyer as I presume everything went ok with the transaction after that length of time.
In some ways it is good to have one or two neg feedback, because the this shows the buyer how the you (the seller) reacts to it. A good seller would react in a professional manner, by not stinging them with a neg, but replying to the feedback in a way to sort out the problem. A bad seller would sting them with a neg and reply to the feedback with swear words and name calling. If buyers saw this, that might or would put them off bidding on anything.
Also in my experience, if a buyer receives the item and requests a pos for fast payment etc.. GIVE IT TO THEM. I have had neutrals in the past due to not giving buyers feedback. I thought this was a bit harsh as feedback is a voluntree thing and if anybody does ask for feedback now I do give it to them.
I have had negs in the past from people being silly or kids messing about. This very unfair and I have negged them back, to show other sellers that this buyer can not be responsible in leaving appirate feedback.
Hope this info helps some of you.

I'm a seller (and often a buyer) on eBay and I work in a similar way to a few of the posters here.
I have been using eBay since the end of 1999 (I must be mad!), I've received one Negative & that was at the very beginning & was due to an international buyer not reading the auction correctly. These things happen sometimes.
Due to some people trying it on, new ebay users not too sure of what they are doing and general human error, I now leave feedback when my buyers have confirmed to me that they have received their item and are happy.
As a buyer I leave feedback when I have received the item & I'm happy with it. If an item isn't up to scratch or hasn't turned up I always try to sort it out via e-mail. If I can't get a response then I pull their details off ebay & I call them on the phone. I don't leave negative feedback.
Feedback is voluntary and noone has to leave it, but it is polite to let your seller know everything is ok.Ebay~ A wretched hive of scum and villainy.0 -
But that is exactely the point. Sellers withhold their feedbacks for (as you all clearly admit) the sole purpose of forcing your buyers to BEHAVE THEMSELVES. I am sorry but that gives you an unfair advantage. You should worry about getting your money and leave the buyer to decide on the quality of your products. :TDo I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

As a buyer I leave feedback first as a seller I wait for buyer.
All you buyers who are afraid of leaving a negative are just being chicken. Yes you might get a negative in return, but a negative does the seller far more harm than the buyer.
If you are not happy with an item contact the seller and try and sort it out. There are far too many buyers out there that reach for the negative feedback button before trying to sort the issue out, mistakes and problems do happen on the odd occasion.
The buyer who think prompt payment = end of deal; have obviously never sold on e-bay.
I used to leave feedback first but have been held to ransom by dodgy buyers. I had to close my account when a buyer left a one word negative....FAKE.... which was untrue but killed my sales.
Feedback is voluntary at the end of the day. If a buyer doesn't want to leave it thats fine with me. I offer a next day delivery service, premium products and good comms with my buyers, they have no reason to leave a negative.
Wig if you have bad service leave your negative, poor sellers normally react with poorly worded tit for tat negatives that generally can be seen for what they are.0 -
I think its down to the fact that a sellers feedback forum is more precious to the buyers feedback
Like most I have two eBay accounts one for selling and one for buying. I do my best to not receive any negs on my sellers account and if I do I am gutted, because I know this effects my reputation and may withhold buyers bidding on my auctions. On the other hand if I were to get one on my buyers account I would not be bothered at all, because this will not effect who I buy from.0 -
As a seller, I tend to wait until the buyer has left me feedback to ensure they are happy and are not going to try to return the item or whatever. It isn't just about the paying part, its about the whole transaction, so no sense in leaving feedback because they paid immediately.
As a buyer, i leave feedback as soon as I receive and have checked the item. Not buying unnecessary toiletries 2024 26/53 UU, 25 IN0 -

As a buyer, i leave feedback as soon as I receive and have checked the item.is what happens if you were not satisfied with the item you purchased and the seller was actually uncooperative. would you leave them a negative feedback knowing very well that they'll retaliate by leaving you one as well despite your prompt payment ???

LOL
The thought of me (all 5ft 1 of me!) forcing anyone to do anything makes me chuckle.
I never expect them to leave feedback until they are happy with their item & the transaction.
If past buyers had behaved themselves then perhaps I would operate differently.Ebay~ A wretched hive of scum and villainy.0
