In the helpful hints sticky thread there is a list of other auctions, but the fact that we can't readily think of any rather suggests that neither will the buyers.
Your post does also rather highlight one of the problems with these ebay wannabes, the flea market element. Many of us have progressed past that stage and actively seek things to sell on ebay at a profit and whilst I might not be a big seller I am past the stage of wanting to sell my stuff in any way other than on a professional looking basis. Ebay are actively seeking to lose the small seller, that is their stated intention so there is actually room for both sorts of auctions. However I'm not sure some of those other auction sites would want to be seen as the place just for a flea market sort of seller as that is the market that ebay have already deemed to bring in less profit for them.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. You haven't ... but lets make a start

i think several of you should get over to the other forums and find out what is going on, as some of the reasoning I have read is going to end up with a lot of you feeling unhappy and even worse without a venue to buy and sell your wares.
For a start no one has mentioned a one day boycott. That idea came from ebay, as they spoke to the press and try to make people think it is nothing. Don't want to upset the share holders do they.
If those figures shown were true then ebay would not have to bother with what they claimed during the feb boycott was a glitchor a test, a glitch that suddenly came back during the may boycott.

That is just one of many users with no identity that could be read as ebay padding the listings.
I think ebay and those that think ebay is the only option will get a shock how far this is about to go, as most of the sellers and buyers alike feel they have no choice, as they are being dictated to by people that have no understanding of the damage they have done to ebay, as they come out with stranger and stranger rules.
Such as ebay have banned the sale of eBooks, OK if they want to do that they can, some will say. But the person that was banned, was banned before the regulations had come into place. They were banned for rules that did not exist but for a note on someones desk and the great ebay customer support suddenly stopped supporting.
This has gone way past just another boycott, the only aim of most is too make use of the state of things so that they can show people that there are other options.0 -
The seller account linked to the "glitch" auctions is actually a genuine pc retailer. PCrush.com and none of those auctions exist anymore.
AS for ebooks, they are banned on ebid too, and you have to ask, why would you bother selling 99- 1.99 ebooks when taking fees into account
The boycott? as someone else said, its can be the best thing for other sellers, because less competition mean better prices. If your that fed up with ebay do a commited boycott and just leave completey, otherwise learn to adjust to the changes.
Im not in favour of ebay, im just sick of reading on 100's of forums etc, about how evil ebay is............its a business, its doing what businesses do, and if sellers really think this boycotting and mud slinging is doing anything, then perhaps the efforts will be better towards doing something for the good of humanity, something which matters0 -

Hallelujah! If you don't like Ebay and have stuff to sell get off your backside and go and stand a market. No point in thinking that withholding a few hundred quids worth (if that) of business for a day from a multi million pound company will make a difference to how they run their company. If I don't like how a company works I don't deal with them, its that simple, don't bleat on about monopolies, Ebay is a sales outlet, if you can't find other sales outlets then you aren't looking. If you think Ebay is a better sales outlet and worth using then do so, if not don't..0 -
well i listed last night and i have some items with bids allready...Work to live= not live to work0

That is just one of thousands and now they are also being linked to the east, where ebay does do so well

So they ban what you sell in the morning and plan to bring it in a few months but ban you now, that is OK I assume

What do you think is happening, but the way it is being done chips away at ebay and their hold on the market they no longer want.

You don't think peoples way of making a living is important enough to do anything about? Personally I would think trying to deal with things you have a hope in hells chance of saving is a little more important0 -

There are a lot of sellers still listing on ebay and stuff is still selling, prices are a little low for this time of year in most markets but they are willing to take that.
I would watch out for who is bidding on your items they are reporting a massive increase in NPBs, and with the new feedback system, if you are only listing a few things a night they can have you kicked, as ebay are stopping the 30 day pick up period.
Some of them only allow people with a card on their account but are still having problems, with people over bidding their items or just vanishing after the items end,
Turning up to say sorry I will pay for the item, so their feedback sticks when left against you.0 -
Most businesses try to take care of their customers. eBay has a monopoly and engages in very monopolisitc behaviour. It treats it's customers with the upmost arrogance being concerned only with sucking as much money out of them as possible. It excludes anyone who might impact on their financial vampirism by banning payment methods such as Google Checkout, NoChex etc; and forcing PayPal as the only acceptable payment method on certain listing categories.meknownowt wrote: »Im not in favour of ebay, im just sick of reading on 100's of forums etc, about how evil ebay is............its a business, its doing what businesses do, and if sellers really think this boycotting and mud slinging is doing anything, then perhaps the efforts will be better towards doing something for the good of humanity, something which matters
The problem with making large amounts of money is that it makes the company itself a very attractive prospect for takeovers or an advert for a new market entrant. eBay's brand image is so high, however, that only another giant such a Google or Microsoft could take them on. If eBay keeps upsetting it's customers more and more, as it is doing at the moment, then the barriers for a new entrant to the market lowers. That's not only dangerous for eBay but good news for people like me that run businesses on eBay; we are sick and tired of being bled dry and having absurd new rules imposed on us which makes trading even more difficult.EGG are a bunch of complete bankers!0 -

If, as you say in your first paragraph Ebay had a monopoly then there would not be a possibility of 'a new entrant to the market' as you say in the second paragraph. There are other sales options, if you are using Ebay despite your concerns about their charges then I suspect you have tried alternatives and aren't happy with them.
Your statement that "It treats it's customers with the utmost arrogance being concerned only with sucking as much money out of them as possible." pretty much covers every business out there, even charities do it!.0
