Just to correct a few facts - negative feedback can still be left for buyers at this time. If you have a non-paying bidder, then yes, you CAN still neg them at the moment, however and Unpaid Item Strike does more harm to a buyer than a neg.
Also, the "ongoing strike" has had no noticeable effect on page views for either eBay.com, or eBay.co.uk, and indeed eBay have recently reported an increase in profits and revenue for 2008 Q1.

off thread topic.. but when you put in a non-payment claim with ebay... and they still dont pay etc... in whay way is this worse than a neg? as someone that i done this to.... a few months later emailed me and asked me to remove the non- payment strike .. this was the first contacted me...Work to live= not live to work0

Sellers can restrict buyers with unpaid items strikes, but can not block buyers with loads of negs. Also, once a buyer gets "a few" strikes - estimated to be around 3 or 4 in quick succession, or 6 few months, then they will be removed the site.<--- Nothing to see here - move along --->0

thanks stevew..... was wondering why the person emailed to try and remove the strike....Work to live= not live to work0

Steve, that stats graph means nothing in the real world as it's entirely dependent on people having the Alexa tool bar on their PCs.

Ok. You are right. It wasn't a case that I couldn't leave feedback because those rules haven't come into effect yet! It will still not be good in the future.
What happened is that a user bid on my auction who had really good feedback and pushed the price high. Then after the auction ended I found the user had his Ebay account and his Paypal account suspended so he couldn't send funds. He said his account was frozen as the result of trying to change his User ID. Ebay wanted new faxed proof as he was changing his User ID and he and Ebay were being slow with it. After about 2 weeks of this I had to file for a refund of fees. I relisted the book but it took 2 more auctions and it still never went as high.
I remember now - the reason I couldn't leave feedback is that he set up a new User ID and started all over again. This basically left him free to mess up other people's sales.
Sorry about being misleading - that was back around Xmas time and I hung up my Ebay hat right after the book was finally sold to someone else.
As to a rival...unfortunately there isn't one either here or in the US. Trust me, the folks over there are CLAMBERING to find one as well. There are so many forums about it and a group are even pestering Google (did you know they have a rival to Paypal?!) to start one up.
I don't have the figures in front of me, but it has become total uneconomic to sell low value items anymore. My local charity shop has become richer for it as well.0 -

"Page Views
January: Down 10.54 percent year over year
February: Down 10.69 percent year over year
March: Down 12.82 percent year over year
Unique Audience
January: Down 9.57 percent year over year
February: Down 4.75 percent year over year
March: Down 6.31 percent year over year
The decline in page views has to be of concern to eBay - an almost 13 percent drop in page views in March from the previous year."

The date has always been a problem for us because of the elections. It made the news a few weeks ago but it has taken quite a while for it to spread. An on-going boycott started in the US in February and people have been working hard to get the message out for the worldwide one today - hence all the YouTube stuff. 1 May was chosen because May is when all the new feedback rules come in.
I was selling on Ebay US for years before Ebay UK. I feel that Ebay UK users aren't aware of what will be coming down the line soon. The new management in the US want to take all the individuality and fun out of the site. We may not like it here but where the US leads the UK follows!
Sites like the following have been springing up all over the place.

What has amazed me is the strength of feeling in the US. I have read so many forums where major PowerSellers have "gone on vacation" and closed down stores - not to mention all the smaller sellers (like myself) who can do nothing about it other than bring it to the attention of sites like this!0
