    Goodmorning everyone,

have'nt had the chance to read through the posts as i have been busy with my hot and bothered 2yo whils trying to wrap DS2's pressies for his birthday tomorrow. Went to tesco this am and spent 43.22 but 34.54 of that was for Ds' party tomorrow. I bought 240 box of pg tips last month only to find that about 15 of them were torn normally i would of just moaned to myself but as this is'nt the first time it's happened i've decided to complain wait and see what happens there. I must be in the mood for comlaining today because i've also just been on to the bus company that run the bus my older children catch home from school about one of there drivers who insists on driving straight past their stop whilst sticking the V's up at them. Anyway off to make some jam drops and rice crispie cakes for the party tomorrow. Hope your all enjoying the sunshine.

Pink-winged - thanks :A :kiss:Any idea of the proportions of ingredients? (the rice and fish, mainly - you've been quite specific about the rest)

    Hi Bargain,

I cook by eye so no measures I'm afraid. As I usually cook for five I'm guessing here, but for one person I'd use one fillet of fish, one cup of rice, go easy on the curry powder....maybe one teaspoon of mild or half a teasp. of madras. One egg would probably be enough.

    Sorry I can't be more precise. :o

Had a yearning for a ploughmans and saw all the lovely different types of cheeses and bought 4 plus lots of different bread/bagels etc, quiche, salad, fruit, dog chews and Dove shampoo/conditioner on offer for 4 for £3 (pretty good!)

Spent €20 yesterday...well gave it to OH with a list and got no change...but he did buy a lamb shoulder this morning which I didn't pay for, so I reckon we might be quits! Need to go shopping to-morrow as the only breakfast cereal we have is porridge, there is no orange juice and we will need some fruit and veg and milk for the week...not buying huge amounts of anything as DD4 has warned me that she doesn't want huge amounts of stuff left when we go away, she will buy her own...she is most reluctant to eat any ready frozen meals ( even homemade), will not freeze bread or milk so am not going to bother...so should be within budget this month at last! Will top up on things like toilet rolls, soap and dishwasher detergent as they won't go bad.

Must update my signature in a minute

  • I have just updated sig and miraculously still have £28 left, I am finding this challenge very hard but sticking to £250 per month and intend to come in on target one month!

Luckily I have loads of food in and I am stretching everything, using less meat (hard as warm weather and OH wants bbq) on the plus side everyone wants salads due to warm weather so I'm sprouting seeds to save on salad costs and have planted some veg in the garden which is exciting as I am looking forward to the harvest and will try and preserve as much as I can (if it grows)

I got some wartime rationing recipe books out of the library and have started making my own frugal cookbook in an old notebook, I am just jotting dwon cheap recipes that I come across. Still early days yet.

I have discovered that 1 heaped tbspn of soya flour and 1 tbspn water equals 1 egg in baking and have experimented with very good results, eggs have gone up in price so its my way of redressing the balance.

Good luck everyone and thank you for posting recipes on here. :)
