Spent £33 ish of June's budget.
By the way I look at the Newspaper summary on Discounts, Vouchers thread each day. It lists any MOCs and today I got £2.40 off from yesterday's Daily Star (for Loaded Mag-not my cup of tea) so my potatoes and red onions were free. Put shopping through in 2 lots so used 65 p worth of MOCs when paying for the 2nd lot-free wholemeal rolls.
So £3 .05 off in total... may pop out and get The Sun later as they apparently have a £2 MOC for Nicorette which works on self-scanner even if you don't buy product.
It all helps doesn't it..

Just thought I'd mention, in case everyone's wondering if I'm starving myself and how I spend so little GC money, I only feed myself, and one night a week work feeds me for free as I'm on call and don't make it home, they also give us free bread, butter and spreads for lunches, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk and juice, and free cooked breakfast if I'm unlucky enough to work all night lol.
Cheers

Hya folks
Still didn't keep to the budget...maybe I should have had a higher limit! I will keep it the same though...my spends are gradually going down, so I must be getting better. I do have two 6'-plus teenage boys with bottomless pits, as well as a lovely DH who "eats well" too! DS2 is diabetic, so I do a lot of baking of no- and low-sugar stuff as well as high sugar flapjacks for when he goes hypo. DS2 (aged 15) is also a BIG rugby player who goes to the gym 3 times a week, so his appetite is HUGE!
We have cut down on the expensive items, and hunt around for the cheaper versions. I now make my bread by hand (BM broke a month ago). I make 4 loaves at a time, which last us about 4 days....the oven is used at least three times a week...but I do loads of stuff at each time....both baking and cooking. I do batch cooking so the freezer is constantly topped up.
The boys have got used to watering down the full cream milk...they realise this is better than cutting their consumption!
Must stop and take stock of what we have and get the menus for the next month written up.
Mrs M put me down for £444.41 for May and we'll try again for £400 in June
Off now to get something done...rain has stopped so tatties in today!
Have a good BH if you can!

Wow, not been on for a couple of days and just caught up on all the posts  .
So... Welcome to all the newbies, you'll love it here - it's addictive! hugs to those who need them, congrats to those who made their challenge, good luck to those not finished yet (me included) and better luck next time to those who didn't make it!
Sometimes we can forget that--in all reality--this challenge is just a bit of fun. OK it helps keep us focused on an important part of our daily lives, but it's not the be all & end all. Quite a few of us have faced adversity these past few weeks, and it's just comforting to know that the rest of us are all here to lend a helping hand. Thanks Guys, for just being you.x
Mike D, I know what you mean, this thread has REALLY changed my whole outlook on life in general, big statement but true, but read the words carefully, BigMumma is not making light of this thread, but being honest - It's not the be all and end all.
I love coming on here, it keeps me honest and stops me doing things that I can't afford to do, it helps me save money. Everyone is SOOO friendly and kind, with great hints and tips, and I love it. But if something happens in my life, this thread WILL take a back seat. It is not a living, breathing family member and they will always come first.
At the end, as BigMumma says, it's comforting to know that the rest of us are here to lend a helping hand, thanks.
BigMumma - Don't feel guilty for posting this, it's true and we love you for all your posts!
Right, off soapbox now, 'nuff said!
Back to what this thread is all about - Been to Asda yesterday and they have 6 pints of milk for £2.12 BUT IF YOU BUY TWO, IT'S ONLY £3 FOR BOTH!!!!!:j :j :j Guess what's in my freezer now!:D
Had a really bad week for some reason and felt sorry for myself, so we had TWO takeaways - £33.75:eek:   . So manic cutback now on my last week now. Went into cooking frenzy yesterday and made cottage pie (will get 9 servings out of that to freeze) bounty bites, banana muffins (got some woopsied bananas in Asdas - 58p a bunch of 8 x 2:D ) orange and choc muffins, shortbread, parmesan thins and MY FIRST LOAF OF BREAD! so chuffed and so is hubby as he loves a crusty loaf and it came out sooo good - guess who's in the good books:A . Have also made and frozen all his sandwiches for the rest of the week - only need to add some veg and fruit in the mornings and he's good to go.
Hubby told me yesterday he thought I would pack up the cooking lark after a couple of days, but am still going strong after 3 weeks (may not seem long but I REALLY hated cooking before getting on this thread and would just do jacket spuds or beans on toast coz it was easy, or get takeaways to get out of it...:o hangs head in shame) It's such a great feeling, and all I keep telling him is 'this only works out at 30p a serving' - driving him a bit mad now I think, he just smiles at me in that knowing 'she's lost it' way:rotfl: :rotfl:
Anyway, topped up rest of shopping £27.11 - should last us the week. I only need juice and I know I can get that with my blinkers on if I do it in my break (no time to shop for other stuff then!:D )

Hi Keiss,
If you still prefer a BM, try freecycle. I just got one from there and it's great. just washed it out and it cooked my lovely bread yesterday... really pleased with it. Worth a try!

I know what you mean about the takeaways, we ordered so many recently that the last time we called the pizza guy said "Hi, Thats ...(my address)... isn't it. Will be there in half an hour"
I can't beleive he knew who we were without being told....... And then - He brought us free drinks. I am really trying here and am pretty determined to do it!0
