*stamps foot & crosses arms, with an almighty pout on* Knew I'd forget summat:mad:

Been meaning to tell you, that in our MrT the STORK marg is cheaper than own brand---that's both the block & soft.
Also I had a bash at mysupermarket.com & realised that I needed to pay more attention to price per 100g to get a better bash for me cash:p I really don't know why this is such a revelation--spose you assume that one is cheaper than t'other--cuz I do it all the time for me muvva's sugar values:doh:Some of the things I looked at were very surprising; just typical that the printer decided, just then, to not print & I didn't have time to go back & write it all out:o

Faster pasta 500g was 55p on Monday is 78p Today(went up in my basket)
Basmati rice 2kg £2.59 two weeks ago ,Now £3.37
Smart price carrots 1.5kg 55p on Mon 68p Today

Basmati rice at Tesco is £1.74 for 1KG (and £3.36 for 2KGs) but the easy cook basmati rice is 99p for 1KG ;)(they have listed it as Tesco Indian Easy Cook Rice 1kg online but the packet says Easy Cook Basmati Rice) the same price as the tesco value basmati rice.

The price of 1KG MrT's Fusilli has gone back down to 99p again. It was up to £1.24 last week! So don't stock up too much as prices can fall aswell.

Also 1KG carrots are 50p until 1st June at MrT (not cheaper than SP though)

Victory I would do egg fried rice with a bit of chinese 5 spice chucked in it.

BigMummaF I think the pitta recipe was MrsM's I'll try and find the post for you... Well I couldn't find it - I was sure she posted this in the Jan or Feb GC Thread  here's a different recipe for you anyway HTH

The recipe as per Delia for pitta bread is:

    500g Bread flour (white)
    2 tsp easy blend yeast
    25g butter
    1 1/2 tsp salt
    310ml water

Put all of above onto dough setting

Divide dough into 12 then rollout into oval shapes. Put onto greased baking sheets & pop into oven gas mark 7 for 8-10 mins, or until golden brown and puffy.

Keep wrapped in tea towel until eaten as this keeps them soft.

Suitable for freezing and re-heating or eating cold when defrosted.

Well it's payday today so I've a shiny new budget. I'm actually upping it to £250 for now because we don't seem to be able to keep it under £200.
Usually I would go and do a big shop just after payday but as I'm on 6 nights in a row I won't.
Freezer is going to have to be emptied, defrosted and refilled because I can't see any other way that I'll manage to get it defrosted.
The lettuces in the garden don't seem to mind me just chopping a leaf off every now and then for salad so I shall carry on doing that!
DS yesterday had White bread, lollo rosso lettuce and apricot jam sandwiches for lunch. YES, all together, and yes his choice! (He's 4 though!)
He's loving the fact that we can just open up the door and pick leaves off.

When I got the mince from Tesco (1kg) I split one into 8 portions. It has been doing us well, padded out with oats and they soya mince that noone likes. I had 1kg left and to my horror DH made spag bol with it on Thursday. It was enough to do 2 meals only but worse still, he ate the leftover lot on Friday night  .
    Never mind heh?
I really need to get going on making some home brew as that seems to be the biggest budget blower. That and tobacco!
Really need to give up those vices though.
