hi guys, another no spend day, but tomorrow will have to go to supermarket. The worst thing is that I feel kinda panicky that we would run out of food when in actual fact the freezer is still half full. Its just fruit and stuff I really need of that and chocolate lol. Am I the only one that feels like that?
lol!! i feel exactly the same as you!! i have 3 freezers absolutely chocka-ful of stuff, and its only me and DD17 & DS14 that i feed out of there!! i make sure i ALWAYS have at least a dozen HM rolls in there. i think i'm terrified of running out of food cos when i was married H would barely give us enough money to feed me and the children...it all went on his golfing and socialising. i suppose thats why i panic about not having enough food so i over compensate0 -

I think this is a little bit like me - we have had times where we have had to beg and borrow money just so we could buy baby milk for N when he was a baby.
Obviousley things are better now but I just keep buying - I hsve always got a little nervous over having no food in but since getting PND I have got worse

I think the personal experiences go some way to explaining the panic, but I really believe it goes back in our ancestry to the days of the hunter/gatherer when early man needed to get what he could when it was available or the family would starve.
Not that I am a psychologist or anything, but I like to believe that it isn't my fault when I overbuy!
Or is this an excuse?0 -

It was a huge box, about the size of a lettuce box. So if I can freeze mushrooms can I do the same with carrots? I know you have to top/tail and peel them then blanch. If I cut them into rounds and blanch them and freeze them what do I do when I come to use them? I always steam my veg, can I just steam them from frozen and how long would they take to cook?
I am sure you can just steam them from frozen. I steam all my veg including frozen peas which take about 8-10mins.0 -

moniker, switch switch switch....or ask for your credit back, they are earning interest on this amount, when it could be in your account earning interest for you...just switch to quarterly bill rather than payment plan and then put the £8 per week into another account (or if you think you will dip, into a tin or ask family/friend to hold onto it)
I did switch about 12 months ago after following advice on here. I have been really busy at work recently, but will be off in a few weeks for the summer so I intend to have another go at the comparison websites then. I have already managed to cut down on my water bill (from £20 to £13 per month - we have a water meter), by being extra careful and also we have had a blitz on switching stuff off which is why we are in credit for gas and elec now - usually we still have about £60 to pay this time of the year. What really annoyed me was that they wanted to put my payment up by so much when I was in credit and likely to be until the end of the summer. Better to have the money in my account than theirs! Sorry if this is off post. Rant over!
