Can't remember who was asking about herbs/spices but I would definitely recommend going to an Asian type place, we have a Turkish Food Centre opened in our High Street and I bought a 100g bag of Ground Coriander for only 38p and all the other bags of herbs and spices were of a similar price so I now know where to go when I need to restock and will no longer buy them in Asda/Tesco etc.
I always get my fresh herbs from an Asian grocer but I've never thought to look at the dried herbs. Will do that next time. Thanks for that!!0 -

Well the BBQ went well yesterday. Have Sausages, Burgers and chicken mini fillets left over, enough for 5 meals for the 4 of us. That will help me a lot as I am near my budget limit.
The muffins and gingerbread biscuits went down a treat. Its amazing how the homemade ones get eaten a lot quicker.
Why does fruit and veg only keep for a few days. I bought new potatoes on Fri Eve to cook tonight, already some are soft.  I only shop once a week, the local fresh stuff is rubbish and I refuse to go supermarkets more often.
We are having chicken dinner followed by apple crumble with my yummy topping. This is sad I know, but we save the crumbs from fruit n fibre or weetabix to add to fruit crumbles. One way of getting more fibre.0 -
Took our friends to Greenwich park in the afternoon and then visited the Maritime Museum,
You must live quite close to me Scotsaver. I practically live in Greenwich park in the Summer.
Another nsd, 5th in a row. Had a friend visiting today who has never seen a squirrel, so took her to Greenwich park with a bag of monkey nuts. She had a great time. Thanks to all the lovely people on here I have managed to cut my hours down to 2 days a week, allowing me to spend more time with my gorgeous Children. :j0 -

Hi Phoogrrrl.
Don't forget to check the prices in Makro. I went into check there bread flour and it worked out at over £1 a kg
They have got a special offer on T bags which starts on Wednesday. MIL is sending me in for those. Thanks to all the lovely people on here I have managed to cut my hours down to 2 days a week, allowing me to spend more time with my gorgeous Children. :j0 -
We went to Makro the other night too - got some lentils and a few other bits - they were quite expensive for some things compared to the supermarkets !!!
I agree the flour was not cheap - the cheapest we priced up was 60-odd pence a kilo compared to Asda's 48p
Really watch the prices in there !!!

hi guys, another no spend day, but tomorrow will have to go to supermarket. The worst thing is that I feel kinda panicky that we would run out of food when in actual fact the freezer is still half full. Its just fruit and stuff I really need of that and chocolate lol. Am I the only one that feels like that?

Angelnikki & Mrs M- thanks for the recipes will try them wednesday, have just brought out of the oven tWINKS hobnobs, they are yummy.
