OS Daily Tuesday 29th April 08

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning.

Hope everyone is well. Overcast and grey this morning. showers forcast.
I have work at 1300, so I will probably continue digging inthe garden until that time. I am trying to get it ready for the veggies that are in the green house ready to go out.

Some things have really done well so far and others not so good.

I am still nursing a sore finger from Sunday when I cut it with a piece of metal. I got a tetanus yesterday, which means my arm is sore as well. At least I won't get some horrible disease.

Things are fairly quiet at the moment work wise. The family going on steady... so nothing much else to report... Have a nice day

    Morning N9eav :hello:

No baby piggies yet, wish she'd hurry up :D

I've been up since 3.30am, had brekkie, cuppa tea and I'm on my 3rd coffee  The washer's just finished so I'll hang the clothes out in a mo.

Master tru is having driving lessons, we're paying for them (birthday present). He's only gone and booked four lessons for this week. FOUR IN ONE WEEK  The git. He can't learn in our car cos it's a company car. Someone has just offered us a free car - Corsa something-or-other - but the insurance is through the roof, don't think we can afford it  We've got it down from over £1300 to just over £800, still searching for a better price but don't think we'll get it any lower.

Morning N9EAV - glad you got yourself a tetanus shot yesterday.

SMOKY - (((Hugs))) to you and the LOs.

(((Hugs))) to PENPIN and all who are suffering at the moment.

MARTYN - hope you have a good day.
    CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:

Well, I intend to give the house a good 'going over' this morning then settle down to some serious w**k! I have a few letters to post - which involve the inevitable trip to the PO to make sure I have put the correct postage on them. What a time-consuming PITA that is these days. I also write 'postage checked at Post Office' on the back of everything I post now; I had a package for my Mum which had the correct amount on because I took it to the PO first and she was still sent a card telling her to pick it up from the sorting office; and she had to pay a further £1.09. Needless to say, I complained and, needless to say, Royal Mail have ignore the complaint! I shall have to write again.

Here I am - grumbling already. sorry folks!

Weather looks reasonably promising from my window so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. It's so nice to be able to go out without thick coats and gloves and scarves!

I think I'll give the garden a bit of a tidy up if it doesn't rain this afternoon and I also need to sweep the front path and drive. DH trod mud in yesterday so I want to make sure that doesn't happen again!

Anyway, I'd better go and get the kettle on.

    See you all later.

Morning all, I must be the only one who is pleased that it is raining here, which means we can have a day off from doing DD's garden, every muscle in my body aches. Will blitz the house and make a chicken and leek pie for dinner, I am looking after neighbours place for 2 weeks and have been given free range of there veg garden, hence the leeks, lots of spinich and fresh eggs. I hope to tackle the oven, I use a ball of used bakeofoil to get the grunge off,it works wonders.
    Smokie and Penpin (((((((((((( hugs)))))))))))))).

HUgs to all who need one especially SMOKEY and PENPIN.

Slept really well but have woken up and neck and shoulders are killing me again. If I could afford it I would go and see an osteopath. Oh well. Another day taking pain killers. Shouldn't complain other people are in a far worse state.

One load of washing out and another to follow. DW on. No rain yet but am keeping an eye out. OH is on nights again tonight so shall be doing very quiet things. Need to pay my car tax. Went into Asda last night and managed to get a big bag of peppers for 31p, two big loaves of Allisons for 20p each and he let me have the grapes because the code wouldn't scan! :T .

Need to do something with the steak that was left over, probably a curry. Think I will cook a prawn stirfry for tea or might do brocoli and cauliflower cheese as it needs using up.

    Have a good day all.

Wet & drizzly here today, lets hope it brightens up later.
I had to laugh at VickyA & her omnipresent headteacher, we've started calling out head Wally, as in 'Where's Wally' as he's never in school, he came in one day last week & enquired about a staff member, he didn't know there was a 2 week school trip on to Rome!
The first job when I got back from the station as to clean my pc screen, Katy has a cold (because it's raining) & has been sneezing all over the screen. Whereas the tradition here is to use a hanky so as not to spread germs, her tradition is to sneeze as loudly as possible without a hanky as this way you blow the cold away!! Hence my snotty screen. Last time she had a cold the kids were complaining as she kept sneezing all over them. She has at least stopped asking if her friend can move in to my spare room. I'm waiting for her to ask if they can share her room.
Off to work as soon as Katy is dressed, no doubt another busy day ahead.
Hugs to Smokey, PP, Mrs Mix & everyone else in need.

    Morning all

Jannyannie, sorry you are still having problems with your neck. Have your tried phoning an osteopath to see how much it costs, or do you know from experience ? A few years ago, DH slipped a disc two weeks before we went on holiday, and he went to an acupunturist who cured it in two sessions.

No work today, but SW weigh in and if I am luck I have stayed the same, if not I might have put 1 lb on. Oh well, at least I enjoyed the naughty things I had :D

Bright here today, so will put the WM on, and might plant my hanging baskets later.

Have a good day everyone x

    Morning all.

It looks like it might be a decent day weather-wise so fingers crossed for that. Half day today then off w**k until Thursday so I've got some of "her" cuddly toys to take to the charity shop, I've, err, got my own thank you :o Then I'm over Blandford way to collect some parts for the EAH, call in at the local Te$co's and then two nights away in the middle of nowhere :j . I'm not sure about the shopping 'coz it's yet another first for me. I can almost read the entry in the diary tonight:

"Benthoslog, stardate-29/04/08. Today I faced a crucial decision in Te$co's. Do I buy Y-fronts, [strike]nice pink frilly lacey ones for ladies because no-one but me will know[/strike], or boxer shorts? Such matters weigh heavily on my mind...." :rotfl:

Hope everyone has as good and safe a day as possible, my thoughts are with those who need them, and thank you to all you nice people for your support.

Benthosboy will return on Thursday :D

    Man try :D

    Morning everyone

Not a lot to report - just the same old routine!!! Did all the ironing yesterday and as normal the washing basket is overflowing again so 2 or 3 loads of washing to do today. DD1 wants straighteners for her hair and i mentioned it in the playground and one of the other mums has offered me her spare pair for £5 so am taking her up on that - DD1 is well pleased.

Have some seed sowing to do today as well and the general housework -hoovering and dusting - what a joy!!!

Hope everyone has a good day - hugs to those that need or want one.
