Who knows, maybe I'll write a book about my experiences :rotfl:
Off to the Nationwide to pick up my child benefit. Just called them to confirm what identification I would need - first of all she said my passbook, then obviously realised I don't have that anymore and said just bring my driving licence. Will let you know how it goes....Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000

Argghhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well that was the most frustrating 45 minutes I have ever spent, and I still don't have my money :mad::mad: Got there and explained to the cashier that I had called earlier, was there to collect the monies released by the OR, the account number and everything. She was totally perplexed by the whole thing - cue lots of back and forth to the rear office. Finally sent her manager out to speak to me.
Manager explained that they hadn't seen the fax from the OR and was I sure it was this branch. Quoted fax number, and telephone number, then gave her two numbers for the OR's office that I had on my phone. She called them and got them to refax authorisation.
The child benefit had been transferred into a different account so that it wasn't used to offset any debts I had with them. That's cool. Whoops, you can only access that account with the card - do I have the card? Well, no cos I cut it up into little pieces and gave it to the OR.Oh, well we can't get the money then.
Tried transferring it back to the normal account - won't work. More phone calls to head office. Only way it's going to work is by transferring the money into a different account, then issuing me with the money from there. Give signature. Right, well we'll give you a call when that's ready and you can come in and sign the paperwork and we'll give you the money.
What, you mean come back?Erm, yep sorry, we can't do it here - it has to go to Head Office to process, then they tell us it's done, we call you, you come in, and we release the funds
:o Alternatively, you could write to them asking for a cheque.......
So I waited and waited for a phone call to say it had been processed, but not heard from them yet and it's been nearly 3 hours. So I guess I'm not seeing that money this weekend
To give them their due, the staff were really nice and tried to be helpful, but what a f*&king palaver!!! Suffice it to say, I got home and had two cigarettes in swift succession. Will let you know what happens in Part II....
Ooooh, one funny thing. A student was in there trying to sort out an account -he'd been turned down because of all the different addresses he had lived at, etc. So when the woman who was dealing with him went to the back office, I told him about the Co-Op Cashminder :j:rotfl::rotfl:Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000
