UP
1) Experian credit score is 999    - toot, toot - that was me sounding my own horn!
2) Two local estate agents prepared to rent to undischarged bankrupts
3) H really doing his best to talk to me, and we're working together much more
DOWN
1) CCCS confusing the heck out of me and H - suggested he go BR, and me do DMP but any surplus of his income could be snaffled by OR, leaving me with no choice but to go BR
2) Can't get a decent valuation on the house cos no one round here has moved in the last umpteen years - guess it's time to get the Estate Agent round....

Would you be able to afford the mortgage each month once the other debts are cleared? Would the cost be less or the same as renting?
If you have no equity, it may well be possible to retain the house, at least until you sort out the rest of the stuff between you and OH. if there is NO equity then the cost of the beneficial interest is £1 plus the OR fees (about £290).If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Hi RAS
The cost of the mortgage is very similar to renting, and we should be able to afford that once other debts are cleared. We don't know if there is equity in the house at the moment, as house sales are so sluggish down here. It could be as much as 20k before all the fees, etc.Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000

I would be tempted to ask a few estate agencies around to do a valueation for a quick sale and see what they have to say on price. That way at least you know what the equity is likely to be and can make an informed descision. You don't have to tell the EA's what the valueation is for just say you need to move quickly.BSCno.87The only stupid question is an unasked oneLoving life as a Kernow Hippy0

Will see if I can get him to watch it tomorrow. I want him to feel empowered, that we are doing something positive even in the depths of the stuff we're going through but I know he's not feeling that way. I also know I tend to take charge and am trying to stop myself doing that, but man it's hard [/quote]

This could be funny ... every new poster that comes on we'll be asking them if they're Merry-Gentry's other half ... they'll think we're all a bit peculiar
