My friend was saying something very similar to me earlier today. She said in the space of a week I have made HUGE changes in my life, changes that should be scaring the pants off me, but I seem to be more positive as each day goes by.
A big chunk of it is down to this place - I have found somewhere welcoming, non judgmental, where I can pick people's brains. Part of it is that I know I am doing the right thing for me and my kids. If H and I make it through all of this, then that's a major bonus.
So yeah, I do feel different! :beer:Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000

Cause of Bankruptcy
After my last daughter was born, I returned to work on a part-time basis. We calculated that childcare costs would mean working full-time was out of the question, and that my husband should be able to meet a higher percentage of our cost of living expenses. Due to what was deemed as his high level of income, I was not eligible for various tax credits as the assumption was that my husband would be assisting me financially.
This was not always possible (he is paying through the CSA for his daughter from a previous marriage), and it reached the point where he could not meet his share of the mortgage and childcare commitments. We re-mortgaged the house to settle a number of these debts, bringing the mortgage to £180,000 and mortgage payment to £1095 per month. My husband, unbeknown to me, was having to resort to using his credit cards again. I was subsidising our income selling a diet product, and the hope was this would grow to cover more of our costs. I used the money from this to pay for food, general living expenses and clothing for the family. I completed my tax return and found I had to pay £3,000. Having used the money that would have gone on the tax bill to feed/clothe the family, I had no choice but to sell my car and use a credit card cheque to cover the remainder of the tax bill.
Following marriage difficulties, we discussed a temporary separation, which is when my husband revealed the details of his financial state. At this point we sought professional advice from both CCCS and the Insolvency Department, who recommended bankruptcy for both of us.
How does this sound??I don't want it to come across as H's fault because it isn't. A tad weary although we have had a brilliant day in terms of getting somewhere.
Any views appreciated.Get free advice before embarking on bankruptcy: CCCS 0800 138 1111 National Debtline 0808 808 4000
