Merry I have read through the whole of this thread and think you area very strong willed person. Congratulations at getting this far in such short time. I am with the CCCS have been since dec 06 I still get loads of hassle off 3 of my 10 creditors!! I really hate it.

I have now and again looked at BR but been very scared at the whole process and what happens after you are declared bankrupt. The whole bailiffs thing scares me.

Just a quick question though, dont want to sound nosey, But on your income and ex, do you not get any Tax credits at all for your children?

    Take care

    Hiya Beth

Unfortunately cos of H's high income I'm not entitled to most benefits. I get child benefit (of course) and the tax thing at work, but can't get Working Parent's Tax Credit or anything like that. The assumption has always been since H and I started living together that he would be contributing to my costs and therefore I wasn't entitled  Unfortunately this has never been the case, and it is a bugbear - neither of our faults, but makes it that little bit more difficult! :( Add to that the fact that their father only recently started paying child support again (long long story  ) and it's meant getting by on my part time salary and a lot of juggling!

And welcome to my essay :j

Thats a big bummer isnt it!!! I feel most parents should get some type of base rate of tax credits. As my hubby is on a lower income we get them both, Still struggle along though!!!

I will keep up to date with your updates, Enjoyed reading your diary and how happy things have made you but also the ups and downs!
    Take care xx

    Thanks honey ;)

Have been catching up with a few people, and it's strange how many people I know have gone BR without me knowing a thing about it  At least 2 of my friends, not close friends but close enough, went BR in the last few years and I knew nothing about it. It's only cos I am such a big gob and have said it's happening that they have told us now!!!

A much more peaceful day - no real running around as such. I think this weekend will be much busier - need to start the girls packing stuff up, maybe even start packing some stuff ourselves. We are going to the rental house to measure up to see what's going to fit where, and what we can and can't take with us. Methinks I'm going to be launching a few sales on eBay to get rid of some bits.

I keep missing my creditors phone calls, which is a pain in the butt because I actually want to tell them what's going on so they can stop calling me

Gonna try for an early night, so catch you guys later :hello:

A bit of a down day. In a lot of pain with my ankle and my back, which means taking the hefty painkillers and sleeping more. And today I told my two other sisters all that's been going on. I'm not good at keeping things secret - would rather people know the truth and take me as I am so I knew I would have to tell them.

Eldest sister was fabulous, really amazing. Just told me I'm a strong woman, I will find my way through this, and if I need a hand - ordering anything on the internet, a savings account or whatever - then just give her a call

Other sister was not so brilliant. Mainly around my relationship breakdown with H - she thinks I need a man around too much and rush into things, and that I should have a better idea of how things reached this point. Even so, she was really supportive, but I guess it feeds the voice in my head that keeps asking 'how did it get to this?' :(

Thankfully tomorrow is Friday, so only a few hours of work and then I can switch off the 'public me'.

H has got a lot on his plate as well, and I feel for him. Tis such a strange position to be in - pulling together with the BR stuff, but not together any other way  But you can't turn back time, and sometimes love isn't enough.

Hark at me getting all profound

  • Aww merry, i'm sure that sister two was just concerned for you, and prehaps has the 'old fashioned' view of BR.
Well done for telling them though. It takes some guts to tell people.:T

When you both have a lot going on its easy to start pulling apart, but right now you need each other more than ever.

I'm sure it will all 'come out in the wash'. You've struck me as a strong couple with good family values.

    Good luck
The first time we said hello, was the first time we said goodbye. As the angels took your tiny hand and flew you to the sky-you forever left us breathless. RIP my beautiful granddaughter :(
