I think this was a fair request to ask Argos for donating a TV to charity and was very shocked with Argos (with over 600 stores) putting off this request.
I think we should start a simple one liner message campaign of
I am disappointed with Argos because ...
and let everyone put forward their message which can be sent to Argos in one email.
To start with...
I am disappointed with Argos because they have not honoured their offer on internet.0 -

I may be splitting hairs but I don't think that a £350 TV would have broke the bank and would have reaped more positive advertising for Argos than £350 could ever have bought.
Especially when the actual costprice of the TV wouldn't have cost them anywhere near that amount to donate! The supplier probably said no!
An aside, but its like B&Q sponsoring that Ellen Macarthur - all their suppliers pay for her 'sponsorship' not them!0 -
Seems to me that it would have been a nice gesture for them to make. I can understand why they have decided not to, but for the want of a couple of ££s it seems to be a bit petty. It would have brought everything to a nice close.
I'm not impressed with Argos at the moment....not because they haven't fulfilled the misprice, but because firstly they allowed the mistake to appear and then took a substantial amount of time to fix it, and secondly because they have refused to donate a single TV.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

I don't get this, sorry.
A TV was advertised at 49p. Lots of people, presumably realising this was an unrealistic offer, went ahead and ordered one anyway. It turned out 10,000 people did this in total. Had Argos covered this, it would have made them a massive loss. (£3,495,100 to be exact). They quickly realised their error, and having not broken any laws, declined the offers which people made to them, prompting refunds in progress.
Doubtless there will be many people here who, "through no fault of my own", went overdrawn when the 49p+p&p went out of their account.
Then someone requests that they make a charitable donation to make it up to their 'customers'.
Fighting for what is fair in terms of consumer rights, banking ethics and helping people out of debt is a noble and worthy cause, but this is just bo!!ocks.0 -

I couldn't agree more, a mistake was made and people tried it on and lost
because they didn't use there common sense.
And also why give a TV to charity at least take some kids
out on a day trip, they are stuck indoors enough anyway.
Give 1 TV to 1 charity and every other charity would want the same
thus starving charities of the facilities they really need.0 -
Just wondering how many of those who applied for tvs would of donated half the savings to charity if they's got a tv at 49P,if Argos asked;)0

I think I might "get it" surfcat....
If I owned a forum that dedicated a whole sub-forum to Argos, thus boosting it's profits, I'd be tempted to "pull it". But then that would go against the ethos of the site.
But as a goodwill gesture, donating a television or two, would hardly break the bank would it?0 -
I never applied for a TV but still think it would have been a nice gesture for them - they obviously considered it to take two days to come back to Martin (or at least they looked like they considered it!).0

Hi oh_heck ....
FWIW's (which probably isn't much), when I've made any substantial saving through this site, I've made donations via gifts through World Vision, a site that was also posted on here.
