  • Hi all this is my first post so I hope its usefull, If you would like a free meal and a pint among other things you could sign up to this website http://www.retaileyes.co.uk/login/index.php Retail Eyes as Mystery Shopper as I have already done, you specify which locations you would like to Mystery Shop, in my case London. There are usually a few assignments a week mostly pubs, you vist the establishment order some food and drink get rembursed plus a fee usually £5 although not a lot it saves you going to the pub and buying your food and drink also most of the time you need to order 2 meals so if your a real cheap skate offer to take someone out for a meal and dont tell them your on a mission ;) , the only downside is the online paperwork its quite lenghty and detailed, its a questionaire with 70 questions you tick the box and provide a comment eg "Were you served with a smile" yes or no, "How Long did it take to be served" less than 1min, Less than 3min etc.

  • Hi Kat,

Ebooks sound great, but I am curious - are there not any copyright issues selling these?

    Nikki

Nikki, there are only copyright issues if you try and sell books such as harry potter in ebook format. However the ebooks that I sell are written by other ebayers who have given me resell rights, most sellers do give you resell rights so it's not normally a problem. It would also be even better if you could write your own ebook because you can keep the resell rights to yourself and charge a high price as you will be the only person selling it.

I am currently in the middle of writing my second and third ebook. My first ebook is a very big seller, it is just a list of some brilliant websites to get cheap dvds but people are really interested in that sort of thing. I sell the list for £2.49 each and last week I sold 25 of them!

  • Katchambers, thanks for the great post, I'm thinking of giving this ebook thing a go. How much time do you spend per week putting the ebooks on ebay? Also do you have to modify the wording of the advert from what the previous ebook seller used, or can you copy that too?

Also how do you go about setting up Outlook to autoreply? especially if you're selling several different ebooks at the same time?

    Thanks

I spend up to 1hr per day answering emails and sending the ebooks, this could be automated but it is a bit complicated to set up so I haven't done it yet. You can buy an ebook off ebay telling you how to do it for probably only 50p. I take my time with writing my listings so it probably takes me about an hour per listing, however it can be done much faster, probably only 10 mins.

You cannot copy someone elses listing on ebay as that is a copyright issue and you will get into trouble with ebay if you do that.

Good luck with selling ebooks, let me know if you have any other questions.

Well, I have now signed up to be a mystery shopper, and have written my own ebook 'The Competitions Resource' for Ebay on how to win competitions! (The only interesting thing I am an expert on - can't see people buying an ebook about Eighteenth Century Literature! (just finishing my Masters!!)).

I am now an author! Or should that be e-author?? Thanks to all anyway!
    :)

Another good survey site I'd forgotten about is https://www.quickwise.com (or co.uk) - just got £1 from them for answering 1 question! And if you're a new member they give you a £3 head start and you only have to earn £7 before you can cash it in!

Why not? If you are an expert, writing an ebook about it (or about how to do a masters in the subject) shouldn't take you long with your knowledge, and you never know! Give it a try!

I would agree, though, something that potentially lets people make 'instant money' (haha) will probably sell better.

Consider putting your book on Clickbank and offering affiliate sales - this increases your visibility. Before you ask whether I know how to do this - no I don't, but there are ebooks about it. I have only read the sales blurb for those books, not bought one [yet].

Wishing you all the luck with your book!
