Good morning Hypno,
Sounds like a brilliant plan.
With the credit crunch it does seem to be a good time for saving up or dealing with debts ready for a future house move.
With the new salary are you going to try contacting the nasty interest rate people and see if they'll change the rates to try to keep you?0 -
Oh sweetheart! That one house that stopped you. If not for that house, you'd be in the dream house already, I'm sure you would. No point looking back like *that* tho, I know. You will get to your dream, anyone who's ready your diary of your journey so far knows that you will.2023: the year I get to buy a car0

Wow Hypno, you sound so motivated and that is a great plan - have no doubt you'll do it!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

A new challenge for Hypno then
I'm sure you'll do it. I'm sure DFDs are easier to reach when you have an aim at the end of it - otherwise it could be a bit anti-climatic.
We know that every month earlier we pay off the debt can go in the holiday for 2010 fundNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
Go hypno! I can't tell you how much I admire the way you keep your energy and positivity despite the long slog. I know you'll be in that dream house soon, sooner than you think I'm sure. And I look forward to following, and being inspired by, your progress along the way.Total debt: 1 January 2007 £[strike]49,387.79[/strike] 1 January 2012 £[STRIKE]19,312.85[/STRIKE] 1 August 2012 £11,517.620

Good for you Hypno - a new achievable plan - if anyone can do it its you. I make a list each day of 6 things do to and because they are acheivable they get done - hence a tidy, clean house :rotfl:  :rotfl:
We are off surfing tomorrow at 4.30 am   so hope everyone has a good bank holiday - are you car booting????????????????0 -
Go Hypno Go:j (is that WTG in Bingo speak???)
Can I come along for the ride? Your energy is ever so slightly catching.....
We married & moved into our dream house 8 years ago when we were both 40. It's a good time of life, and I aint ever going to move again, even though they are likely to build on the fields at the back in the next 20 years, our road feels spacioous, and the garden is long. I know how you feel about being hemmed in.0 -
Thanks guys, for not saying "be grateful for what you have got" and for not thinking me selfish.
Progress already - OH is on autotrader sorting out the value of the little car.....and we are going to get it valeted on Wednesday ready to sell. It should net us £2000 if we do it properly.
I have a private plate on that car which needs to be transferred off, so that is something we will need to do next week too before we can get the car advertised.
This afternoon I am going to be doing matched betting and games stuff......Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. They just wear better shoes. (Maud Van de Venne)Life begins at the end of your comfort zone (Neale Donald Walsch)0 -
Morning guys! We have a long weekend!!! :j
My new found paid employed status and the resultant money in the bank has given me a bit of motivation to focus - I want to get debt free asap so that I can start saving for a new house - something that the whole family want. There is no way we will be able to move before we are debt free, so that is my focus - I have seen this as my motivation all the time I have been on MSE - basically, we DO have sufficient equity in our current house to sell up and clear the debt.......so if the worst came to the worst, this is what we would do.
BUT that would leave us with a smaller amount of equity which we would need to use as a deposit, and when combined with the mortgage we would be able to get, we would not be able to buy anything any better than we have now.
So, I have always had it in my mind really (see diary number 1!!) that for every £ that is reduced off the debt, it is a £ saved as a deposit - I thought that might put a positive spin to the effort to make the money, rather than just "gotta get this bloody debt paid" negative feeling all the time!
(sometimes it works, sometimes it is the "bloody debt" attitude!).
So, anyway. I am going to set myself some targets and I will do everything I can to achieve them, without running myself ragged - I have a bit more "spark" I think since I went back to work, so I need to capitalise on this and not wear myself out (lesson learnt!).- current DFD - January 2011. Want to bring this forward to September 2010.
- Make £1000 from ebay and car boot stuff alone by the end of the year.
- Make £500 from bingo/games/matched betting by the end of the year.
- Continue with the £10 a day challenge (the figures above from ebay etc will be added into the £10 a day totals)
- Keep looking for mystery shops, and surveys - make £200 by the end of the year from these.
- Pursuade OH to sell the little car (although it is in my name so I can do what I like, but he drives it and I would prefer to have him "on side")
- Meal plan, shop online and eat properly.
- Do realistic budgets and spreadsheets and review them regularly.
- One latte a day only - more is not necessary, and I can't afford it.
- Use the bus - this is working well so far and is far cheaper than the car.
So, this weekend, once the children have been skiing, will be making a start on these - I am a woman on a mission
Go Hypno! :T:T:T - don't forget in there you wanted to blitz the house as well! oh and I noticed on a post further on that the car is being sold - great news - another chunk of money off the debts soon we hope!Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup
