OS daily thread Monday 28th April

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 28th April. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning Everbody :hello:

Hope everyone is well today. I'm just popping in before i trot off to do the four letter word thing, w**k.

Thanks to me having the lurgy and a cat wailing outside at goodness knows what time this morning, I'm not exactly rested

Ah well, not too bad a day for me today, so I'll maybe have an early night instead.

((((((hugs)))))) to smoky, pen pin, Martyn and anyone else who is in need.

See you all later

:hello: Good morning Arkonite babe and everyone else when you get here!

Can't sleep, I spent yesterday catching up on the threads and am trying to re organise a lot of things back here. The garden being the chief thing, we want to grow some veg this year so need to open some more beds or 1 big one, so lots of work and planning what to grow.

Hoping to get to a cash and carry today with a friend, will try to stock up on a few basics if the price is right. They often have yellow sticker items so fingers crossed I get a few bargains.

(((hugs))) to smoky, PP - good luck today will be thinking of you, hilstep, Mrs mix and anyone else who could do with one.

Morning everyone, this will be my first post on the daily thread :j

I've been reading MSE for about a year and a half now, but as you can see from my post count, I don't contribute much and have decided to change that.

I live with my OH in a dinky little 1 bed flat in Melbourne; we emigrated from the UK nearly a year ago. That should explain my funny posting times!

Well, for the next 10 weeks I'm very lucky in that I'll be working 3 days a week for a full time wage. I'm an ESL teacher and have just taken a new job with my old boss, working with adults. I'll only be working thurs, fri and sat (not so happy about the sat but never mind:rolleyes: ) so I have plenty of time to get on with being OS. We're hoping to buy a house in the next few days  so need to make all the savings I can. Today I've been in to observe my new class, been to the gym, been to the supermarket, DW is on, WM will go on when that finishes (they can't seem to cope being on together), dinner of bolognaise bake is half prepared and general tidying has been done. Still need to make the bed, vacuum, finish dinner, put the dry washing away and maybe make something for afters.

Any suggestions for afters gratefully received - I'm trying to fatten up my OH a little. I have plain flour, eggs, butter, sugar, cocoa powder, sultanas, cinnamon etc, oats, baking powder etc.

Hope you all have a lovely day and that there's room for one more on this thread :)

Morning everyone! I didn't get a chance back on here yesterday because I was babysitting!

(((Hugs)))) to SMOKY and the LOs, PENPIN and everyone who needs one or just wants one.

    CHURCHMOUSE - :hello: :hello: :hello:

The weekend seemed to go really quickly! I can hardly believe it's Monday already. We seemed to get quite a bit done, though. The garden looks tidy and everything seems to be coming into flower after the rain and sunshine of last week. DH kept trying to clean the cars yesterday but it kept raining. We also intended giving the dining room a fresh coat of paint on the walls but we just didn't get round to it. I think it was the thought of all the disruption that stopped us! Just not in the mood for it! Will definitely do it next weekend!

I didn't think the weather was as good as forecast. Saturday was lovely but I thought yesterday was supposed to be good, too.

Anyway, plan today is to do a quick tidy up then go to the gym, then spend the rest of the day doing office work. We have bubble-&-squeak for dinner with sausages and the inevitable baked beans followed by a bread-&-butter pud which I will make a bit later.

My DH picked up a lovely old oak chest-of-drawers; it has eight shallow drawers that must have held plans and charts or something. He's going to do it up and put tools in it; it's almost too good for that! I've hinted that it would look great in the hall but I don't think I'm going to win that battle. The last one he picked up ended up in the house along with a lovely blanket box (that would also have been great for tools!), so I suppose I'd better let him keep this one. Mind you, he is so good at restoring furniture that I'm hoping he'll think it's too good just for storing tools in!

Anyway, I'm 'mioliering' as I saw it described on yesterday's thread, so I'd better go!

Hope everyone has a lovely day.

    See you all later.

Good morning everyone! With DH away, I'm back to not sleeping properly. I've been awake for and hour, so decided to give in and get up. There's a pot of tea brewing, sausages in the range for breakfasts, and a cake on the go to take to w***. Bread's nearly finished, so that'll be lovely with the sausages and a dash of brown sauce :o

We had really heavy rain last evening - the trampoline is sagging really badly, so DS will be out first thing to remove the water.

    Welcome almo

Bargain Rzl, after your success with redruby, could you take a look at this thread :A :T

    Morning all

Appologies if my typing is c**p, have very painful neck and shoulders this morning, it's been niggling for a while and has really come out this morning.

    ALMO welcome.
TAPLADY DSS used to have a room like that, he's much improved since he met his lovely girlfriend.

HUGS to all who want one, especially SMOKEY and PENPIN (Good luck for today). Mrs Mix hugs to you and your DAD.

WM and dishwasher are on. Not sure about the weather here today. Need to go to Asda and then meeting Mum and Dad to buy a graduation present for my Neice who is in the USA. She went to her graduation dance on Saturday. She's such a lovely girl, full of life but can strip down a car engine like her Dad! I can't believe she wants to go into the same line of work as me and have given her loads of books to read when she was last over.

Plan today to do some studying later, have been quite happily ignoring it for a week.

    Have a good day all.

    Morning.

I am nursing a sore finger this morning, which means one of the TWO fingers I type with is out of action.
I was cleaning up the garden and stabbed the knuckle with a pirce of metal. Might have to get a tetanus shot today to be on the safe side.
It kept me awake some of the night throbbing.

Still I managed to get the grass cut yesterday, fence repaired and a number of other jobs sorted. It's raining today, so I am not sure if I can get the veggie patch dug and plants transplanted in there.

Work at 1300, so I shall potter about this morning anyway.

OH has finished all her college stuff and just has her teaching practise to do and then hopefully find a job. So no more 100 mile days to college and all the petrol that consumes.

    Cheers

  • Morning everyone (and hugs where needed/wanted)

Been up since 4am - thanks to dd - but she has slept 7pm-4am for the past 2 nights so definately on the way :)

I have done the dishes/sterilised her bottles/sorted and progressed washing pile and put tonight's meal in the slow cooker so productive day so far.

Just away now to iron shirt/trousers for oh and get him on his way to work.

Not up to much today other than a quick trip to t k maxx to try and get another cheap sleeping bag for dd - she loves her other one and so much easier than blankets.
