Hi Wkdwill,
Most recipes for apple crumble are fairly easy so I've added your post to the main thread on apple crumble so that you can take your pick from the recipes posted there.

pear and chocolate crumble
First had this when my husband was in hospital a couple of years ago. I use tinned pears and the crumble mixture has cocoa in it.
I even keep some ready mixed crumble mix in the freezer how OS is that :rotfl:

I have a bowl of fruit needing used up, mainly plums and apples. Could I use the plums for a crumble, I know the apples will be OK, and would I need to take the skins off them?
Also could I stick a bit of rhubarb in or do you think the kids would hit me with it????????????
Thanks for any advice

Go for it. Bung it all in. What's the worst that could happen
I would peel the apples, personally i prefer cooked apples without the peel. Let us know how it goes.

No you leave the skin on the plums. You'll be forever and a day trying to peel them.0

My DD made lots of plum & apple crumble at school (she had a fad on it
) and it was delish. The teacher wouldn't let them put sugar in with the fruit but it did need a bit in my opinion. I'd keep the rhubarb for another time. If the kids don't like it, then just stew it & stir it through custard for yourself

watched river cottage and HFW roasted the rhubarb with honey for 40 mins and served with ice cream. Might try that next time I get some fresh rhubarb.
