Here you go; (found it on the bbc website)
300g/10½oz plain flour, sieved pinch of salt
175g/6oz unrefined brown sugar
200g/7oz unsalted butter, cubed at room temperature
Knob of butter for greasing
Filling:
450g/1lb apples, peeled, cored and cut into 1cm/½in piece
50g/2oz unrefined brown sugar
1 tbsp plain flour
1 pinch of ground cinnamon
Method
1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F/Gas 4.
2. Place the flour and sugar in a large bowl and mix well. Taking a few cubes of butter at a time rub into the flour mixture. Keep rubbing until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs.
2. Place the fruit in a large bowl and sprinkle over the sugar, flour and cinnamon. Stir well being careful not to break up the fruit.
3. Butter a 24cm/9in ovenproof dish. Spoon the fruit mixture into the bottom, then sprinkle the crumble mixture on top.
4. Bake in the oven for 40-45 minutes until the crumble is browned and the fruit mixture bubbling.
5. Serve with thick cream or custard.Payment a day challenge: £236.69

don't boil them but i gently simmer mine for a few mins in a little water to soften the outside then transfer to a dish for crumble topping to go on. Dont over cook or you will end up with apple sauce.Still TryingGrocery challenge July 2016

I just peel and chop any leftover apples (usually golden delicious) then cook them in a pan with a little (I mean little) water until soft.
I then put them into an over proof dish and make a crumble with some butter, plain flour, brown sugar, oats, cornflakes all mixed in to a breadcrumb consistency. Then top the apple and chuck it in the oven at about 180c for about half an hour.
Nothing fancy but always get compliments about it.So little money - so much time :mad:0 -

I'm no expert but made it yesterday. Did my own thing. Family said it was lovely so hopefully it was I'm on a diet so didn't have any.
Chopped up the apples added to saucepan with a large dessert spoon of butter or marg. I just sprinkled on sugar probably about a tablespoon full, taste it. You don't want the apple too sweet because the crumble is sweet. I let the apple soften leaving lumps of apple for a bit of body. I bought a pack of pre prepared crumble from tesco to added to the top of the softened apple.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0
