Surely this is common sense, but if its coming from the engine bay, just lift the bonet and listen to where its coming from....

That info will help people on here more than just "its the engine"

if i knew where it was coming from i would OBVIOUSLY tell you where. 3 mechanics have looked at it and cant tell from where its coming from coz as you should know sound travels

if its a diesel could be the dual mass fly wheel or the clutch its self,i had a dmf that used to knock on an avensis until you depressed the clutch

    sounds like a cv joint.
    ...work permit granted!

Same thought here! I think they need to perform the reverse test.

    1. Happens only when pulling off.
    2. Happens when reversing.
    3. One knock per second.
    4. Disappeas when the clutch fully released.
    5. Happens when the car is warm ( Heat effect on grease?!)

One important question, does it happen when you rev the engine?
It can be the clutch bearning. Does it disappear or happen when you press the clutch? (As harvey asked before)

Ok, it happens when depressing the clutch, does it happen when the gear is not engaged ( Gear on neutral and you depress the clutch) any noise?

Or Does it only happen when the gear engaged?
