I have a 2001 picasso with 65k on clock with full service history at citroen. I have recently been hearing a knocking noise when warm when pulling off and reversing. Sounds like its coming from engine area, any ideas????

Blimey, I hope it's not the big ends! Could be the water pump bearings, I suppose, but you need to have a mechanic take a look at it. We can't diagnose from a distance without hearing it.I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0

Can you be more specific about what you mean by a knocking noise. Does this knocking happen at a specific RPM? Is the knocking continuous or intermittent? Is it a light or heavy knocking?0 -
Do you belong to any road assistance organisation like the AA?
If so you could pretend it's only just happened and call them out. See if they can offer an opinion.0 -
It happens when you are revving enough to pull off (dont have a rev counter sorry) knocks around every second untill clutch is fully released and are moving along. Its loud enough to hear clearly without trying to listen, quite heavy i would say0

If you rev the engine - does it come and go when the clutch goes up/down?
Have you checked the 710 recently?0 -
no it doesnt when its cold i will try it when warm later. whats 710?0

Does the car shake when you turn the engine off?
Check your engine mounts, especially if the noise changes in reverse.
Another option is to allow the engine to cool down completely, and remove the fanbelt. Obviously don't drive it for more than a minute while doing this, as the water pump won't be circulating coolant. If the noise goes, you know its fanbelt related.0
