Help with a Currys dilemma

your being a bit harsh here and there is CERTAINLY no need for it. op only came on for some advice!!!!!!! not a GRILLING from mr know it all
Yes but the OP doesnt want advice, they want someone to start quoting one of the irrelevent acts they mention every 30 seconds to justify him not sending it back
He doesnt have a right to keep the TV or recompense

Tell Currys to come and collect it with your replacement and fit your replacement at the same time - problem solved
Instead you seem to want to make it difficult or boost your circumstances here when you have no right too.
2 wrongs dont make a right afterall
As for putting it in the garden, feel free but trhat would just show you up as the money grabbing !!!! you are
You have a right to the TV you bought, but you seem more concerned with getting something extra than solving the problem, one which could be sorted in 5 minutes
Mate lets not argue here, you seem to think i am on the grab when you don't even know me. I am really !!!!ed off that after setting a telly up i then have to unset it then re set another. I will gladly accept the one i originally thought i had come away with but also feel that this should have been avoided at the shop and it's not my fault they employ idiots.Hello again0 -

A couple of questions?
How did you leave it with the sales person this morning?
Did you know they were coming (as that's the last thing I would have expected, a phone call would have sufficed)
I dont think it's wrong for them to offer something as a gesture of goodwill (not to compensate anything) just a way for currys to say their sorry for the C*** up.
Good luck though. :beer:0 -
Actually skippy it is a tough one because most people see an item in the shop say i'll take it ,hand over cash and take goods away, contract signed, sealed and delivered same would apply if the item is mis-priced.
In your case i have no idea if it applies simply because of the buy, now pay later scenario
in one sense you have the telly you bought and i think that would be the key, they extended the terms of the contract by allowing you to pay later, that does not deprive you of any statutory rights.
If you are of the opinion they should come and exchange the tv and that is fine by you then i think you are in the right, anything further and it would depend on the quality of respective lawyers, but dont listen to the obviously embittered retailers that come on here to have a go at anyone who questions their rightsclick here to achieve nothing!0 -

Hy
The telly i originally wanted i will gladly accept, some people on here seems to think everyone is out on the make all the time. But surely as you say a gesture of goodwill would be appropriateHello again0 -

Please show me where i request this information in my opening thread ?Hello again0 -
To be honest OP I can't understand you buying the display model at full price? Personally I'd wan't a bit of financial oiling to take a display model.
What is the difference between the model they let you leave with and the one you should have left with?
At the end of the day, it is the shop's mistake - you (IMHO) don't have to inconvenience yourself for them to put it right (i.e. they have to fit in with your plans if they want to swap it)
Assuming that the difference is you left with a mark 2 version of the TV you bought (this seasons instead of last seasons), I'd say the gesture of good will you expect is that they carry their error.

EDIT
Another thought that has just occured - many shops show signs like "check your change before leaving the store - errors can't be rectified later" does a similar "rule" (and I use that term loosely!) operate for the consumer - i.e. it is upto the shop to ensure they are sending the customer away with the right equipment?
I have a poll / discussion on Economy 7 / 10 off-peak usage (as a % or total) and ways to improve it but I'm not allowed to link to it so have a look on the gas/elec forum if you would like to vote or discuss.:cool:0 -
let them take the TV back and cancel the order, you really don't want to be dealing with currys. If they can't even deliver the correct item, imagine the hassle you'll get should the TV ever go wrong.0
