The first stage is to sign up to the Mailing Preference Service. That should cut down on some junk mail. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -

I have never bought anything from Vitamail but have always sent my reply as directed on the instructions. Use a plain white envelope. Over the last few years I have probably spent at most £20 on postage. In February I had a letter saying I had won and could I send 2 pictures plus other details. Two weeks ago I received a cheque for £10,000!! I banked it quick and it has been paid so I paid off my credit cards!! Thanks Vitamail.
You are taking the p*** be very afraid we are watching you hope you had a good night out and enjoyed your wine, watch your back you are working for these rip off people arent you, as I said we are on to you:eek:0 -
I've written again to my MEP (cc OFT), copying the UFC story and requesting some priority in this matter. The bigger scandal now is the apparent lack of meaningful action by government and other agencies charged with acting in the public interest.
Reply from the European Commission, via my MEP today:
"Thank you for bringing to the Commission's attention the letter of your constituent, XXX. In his previous letter of 30 October 2006, Mr XXX complained about reiterated prize notification sent by Vitamail and Promondo. These notifications were allegedly false and caused his mother considerable financial losses... In its response of 4 December 2006, the Commission indicated that such practices may fall under the scope of the Unfair Commercial Practices Directive', adopted on 11 May 2005... For the time being, I can only note with satisfaction that, following your constituent's complaint, the Office of Fair Trading has opened an investigation on this matter. We suggest that Mr xxx continue to draw the attention of national authorities on this type of practices."
Presumably the OfT would be interested to receive evidence from others having suffered material losses in this way.0 -
Just found this thread tonight after finally getting a name out of my nan about who the clairvoyants are that she's been winning all this money from. Well it's these scam artists, what a surprise. All the "women" named are listed on another site.
She's bought jewellery, health stuff and sweets plus regularly sends money in exchange for luck, lottery tickets etc.
Most of this is through postal orders although in the last month or so they've persuaded her into getting a credit card (she's 78, disabled etc ) - does this mean I can trace these payments? Or does it mean they are going to scam her further?
Glad the OFT are now involved, am hoping showing her some of the articles and this will get her to stopNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130 -
The address that I have discovered for Vitamail is -
9 Trident Way, Southall, Middlesex UP18 7FR
If anybody is going to the address in Southall, maybe they could do me a favour and collect my £10000.00 cheque which I have been told on various occaisions that I have definately won.0 -
I received 2 letters from this crowd yesterday, stating that I had definitely won 10,000 pounds.
Needless to say, they both went into the shredder.
What a bunch of cowboys!!!!0 -
These people disturb me most days, sometimes twice a day with automated phone calls. I'm on the TPS. Made no difference.
Does anyone know if they have a FREEPOST address, so I can send Vitamail a box of rubble each time they call me up?0 -
If they call or mail you from outside the UK, then the TPS and MPS are about as much use as a chocolate fireguard. Same applies if they use an auto dialer program or unaddressed mail.0

Also the new laws which were brought out this week to outlaw these scams will be useless because most of the rogues operate outside the UK.
There was a good point made on this morning's news by someone from Age Concern. This was regarding Royal Mail and their delivery of these scam letters. The question was raised as to whether the RM could block these letters and not deliver them. Just by looking at the envelope usually gives a good idea clue to what they are. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0
