Im 28, Been in Debt since 18.

Started with free bank overdraft  which automatically increased each year whilst at uni.

Then credits cards, and then finally loans.
  • I am 21 and have been in debt ever since I turned 18 and was able to obtain credit far far too easily.

Fair enough, I can only blame myself for taking it, but I do think that the people who lent me money were irresponsible in doing so.

I'm 38 (38 years and 2 days to be exact!) and the first time I got into debt was when everything went wrong when I was 24. We recovered from that and had a steady life until ex OH leaving plunged me back again (he took all the money out of the account meaning we had no money to live on until benefits were sorted out.....direct debits went bouncing away and it snowballed...as it does!).

Apart from the occasional loan from my parents, I am virtually debt free and have been for the last 2 years.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I'm 26 and have been in debt since getting my first student loan at 17. Wish now I hadn't spent a large proportion of it on smirnoff ices and taxis.......

I am 24 and got my barclaycard with a limit of £500.00 when I was 18 (if only i'd stopped there!)

I had my first baby at 19, bought a house at 20 and had second baby at 21 - debt was kind of inevitable! x x

Looking at the above list, I am the oldest by a good fistful of years.
Not in debt, but that was because I chose not to have the life that debt would have bought.

Scrimped, missed out, stayed in instead. So no fun times, no holidays, no activities, no life, scraped by, no new clothes, no new things, no technology, no gadgets. No dating, so single. Makes you wonder if I did the right thing after all, eh!

At least you all enjoyed getting your debt! And they can't take those memories away from you.

How old are you? 27, almost 28.

What age were you first in debt? Started off with catalogues when I was 18 and spiralled from there really, credit cards, loans, store cards, overdrafts. My debt was at its highest (and when I could get no more credit so had to face up to reality - thank god that happened when it did!) - at 23...

Debt free at the age of 25. I wont be going down that route again....
