Hi
I am still trying to come back down to earth after the good news! I travelled home from the Hospital with the car window open, the stereo blazing and I was singing my heart out at the top of my lungs just glad to be alive! What a marvellous day, and I don't care if any passers-by thought I was crazy, maybe I was a little, on that journey home as I was SO HAPPY!
I arrived at the Hospital at 9:15am after a harrowing rush through commuter traffic and struggled to find a parking space. My stress levels at this point were sky high! I went in to an over-flow car park and managed to park without scratching my car or anyone else'swhich was good under the circumstances :j
I found myself outside the maternity unit (wrong deptartment LOL) and asked a friendly looking nurse where to go to get to the Lavender reception. She directed me and I arrived with 5 minutes to spare :T
I was taken in to see the Doc (a female) at 9:50am and she examined me layed down. I was shaking  and I have to admit she was very cagey about if it was a cyst etc. She did not want to commit herself. I got quite distraught when she told me that she confirmed it was a lump and that I would require further investigation and an appointment would be sent within the week! I went balistic! Truthfully, I went mad! I started crying, telling her I had to go to Scotland tomorrow, I had my new cottage, I can't live another week without knowing, have I got cancer, am I going to die etc. etc. It went on and they tried to calm meI told her that I was told I would find out result TODAY and I was going nowhere until I knew if it was a cyst. She said she would phone through to the mammagram (is that spelt right?) dept and see if she could get me seen today. She got a call short while later saying that they would squeeze me in as I was so distressed
but I may have up to a 3 -4 hour wait. I said ' I don't care how long I wait, but I have to know today' etc. I got escorted to the mammagram unit by a nurse and my particulars were taken. I asked if I could go find a cafe for a drink whilst I waited and would come back in an hour or so if it was going to take 3-4 hours. The nurse said that they were going to ultra-sound scan me after the lady who was currently in had been dealt with. It should be no more than half an hour, so please would I stay in the waiting room etc.
I waited a further 15 minutes and was taken to a cubicle to get changed into a gown  I was sweating very badly by this stage, panic was raging in me and I was trying to keep calm. The nurse in the room I was taken to was so nice, she calmed me whilst we waited for the Doctor. I had gel spread gently on my breast and the ultra-sound scan was performed. A trainee Doctor was with THE Doctor who was scanning me and I heard those magic words, see, you can see it is a cyst etc. She explained what she was looking at as it happened to him and to me. I staarted crying, with relief, with joy, I was overcome with every emotion you can imagine
The Doctor explained that it was DEFINATELY a cyst and it did not require further treatment. There was nothing suspicious and I was just to go home now. I asked if it would be drained with the needle aspiration etc. She said there was no need to do that as it was just a cyst and it would probably go away by itself or just stay as it is etc.
The young nurse who had been holding my hand hugged me and started crying with me as I got the news. She said that she could see that it was a cyst as she watched the monitor as the lump was black and the ultr-sound went straight through it. I had told her whilst waiting for Doctor that I had just celebrated my 18th wedding anniversary, didn't want to have cancer etc. all about the cottage etc. I blabbered like a frightened child. I was frightened.
But, it was painless, they were marvellous, I do NOT have cancer and I can now go to Scotland happy and get the keys to my new cottage. I am so happy.
Thank You to all who helped me and stood by me through this. Thank You from the bottom of my heart.
I guess this concludes this thread and you will now see me around MSE posting advice and help to others where I can.
Have a great day everyone and I hope the sun shines for you today as it does for me and my family.

smartiepants wrote:Dear Ember, I do hope that you don't mind, but I have put forward your thread for the post of the month, and dedicated it to all the people on here that have shared with you and given hope to you in your time of need, I have asked that the prize go to the Breast cancer charity in your name. I do hope that you don't mind me doing this. Love and Hugs xxxx
I think that is a wonderful idea and I am honoured that you have recommended my post for post of the month. If my post helps someone else out there realise that most lumps are nothing to worry about, gets people to go to the Doctors and get checked, then that will make all the stress worthwhile. I hope to God no one ever has to go through what I went through this week. But, if you do, whoever you are, go get checked, it's probably just a cyst like mine
I would be so pleased if the post of the month award money went to Breast Canver Research. I personally will be setting up a standing order to them over the next few days.
